  1. Easy check for you Mike. Put headlights on, attempt to start, headlights dim, battery had it or discharged. All the best.
  2. I do hope that my last comment hasn’t been taken in the wrong context. It was the immense frustration and worry what ES owners are going through. I just wonder why this has been, so recently, that we have became a target. Yes it has to be the obvious, Canbus and the key. Oh such a concern.
  3. Sorry Johnny for the aggro you are going through. What more can be said on this unfortunate topic?
  4. You take it easy mate. It will get better. No more roping, sheeting, chaining for you, for quite a few months. Do remember those days?
  5. Oh dear, sorry to hear about the theft. So pleased it has been recovered. As you can see from my previous threads my son had an attempted theft some weeks ago. Would it be practical? to have some sort of “switch” to lock the brakes and accelerator or a mechanical lockable device for the brake and accelerator pedals? This seems simplistic, but surely we need to bypass this canbus malarkey. This is such a worrying situation for ES owners and the implications of heavily increased insurance premiums.
  6. No apologies required Neil. At the top end of Porlock Hill, there was another A.A box, still there, which had a water supply, l wonder what for? Porlock was 1in4 at the 90 degree bends 1in2!
  7. Just done a trip to Exmoor (Lynmouth area) stayed in Stag Hunters in Brendon, highly recommended. Wife and friend in the rear seats which they found more than comfortable. The ES belted up Porlock and Lynton hill with ease. Very different to 50 years ago when we had a 1.2 MK 1 Cortina. Reminiscing, I did miss the Manta GTE Coupe, that loved the Exmoor roads, not so the ES! Still times change, average 48 mpg on a 460 mile trip. Don’t ask about the state of inside and out of the ES!
  8. Do you know of any other salons, that can accommodate 3 adults, in comfort in the rear?
  9. As above do not waste your money. Complete con, as are the “Magic Pellets” in your fuel tank. Engine life has changed since 20/50 oil,and STP additives and non breathing engines.
  10. With reference to my son’s failed theft of his ES. You will have read circumstances in recent previous post. Surrey Police apprehended said vehicle, and allowed it on its way! With no tax, insurance etc. After correspondence with the police. Son attended Epsom police station with neighbour, for an explanation, who had also been threatened when asking, “what are you doing” Response from civilian amounted to zero! Will now have make a complaint to the ‘higher authorities. Words fail me,
  11. Hello Russel, welcome to the ES Forum. I’m sure you will have been well informed by reading all about the ES. The positives and negatives. I enjoyed your comments on style etc. I’m on my 3rd now. I feel that you should look and drive, alternatives before you make your mind up. Remember it is a big car and can be a pain parking and traversing out of car parks etc. due to the limited steering lock. Keep on reading the forum.
  12. After looking at advice from previous threads on the ES theft. Son has purchased a Stoplock Pro Elite.
  13. My son lives in Ashtead Surrey and has an ES p/p 21 plate. Was concerned by black Mercedes with 4 occupants had been cruising the area for several days. We’re confronted by a resident but were somewhat aggressive! Tonight after my neighbour noticed that the occupants of the car were holding a small black box near the location of my sons car. He informed the police who then rapidly descended on the street. They indicated that they were after my sons car! The Black Merc has been found to be untaxed etc and came from up north. Thefts are prolific in Ashtead, Surrey area. How do we protect our cars?
  14. Forget the Yes and no! White front as as head, driving and sidelights. Rear as reflective as HGV’s. Is this to simple?
  15. I do hope Tiffany settles down quickly with her new family. I’m sure she will have plenty of love ❤️ and cuddles. It won’t be long before she is out of nappies. On serious note all the best with your new baby James.
  16. A oil leak on a shock absorber doesn’t necessarily be a failure on MOT’s now. (The old trick with WD 40 at MOT stations). Why would low mileage be a problem?
  17. What were the symptoms of the failure? Oil leak, soft on rebound, noise? N/s or o/s? Comments on relax makes you wonder!
  18. So right about Mr Khanage. The Yaris seems a very good choice. Happy hunting.
  19. My biggest concern after a possible 100k, would be making sure you could get them out easily.
  20. Oh those air con seats! Marvellous during this hot period. Always brings a smile on the wife’s face!
  21. Welcome. I’m sure you will enjoy your purchase.
  22. Try Hastings online. Came out best for my ES.
