  1. As far as I know Luigi told me that when he replaced his GS450H with a GS300H he missed the V6 and the power and acceleration of the GS450H. This is the reason why he after bought a RX450H. He may tell you more when he reads this thread.
  2. Congratulations! Unusual switch from a SUV to a saloon, I would expect the other way round, but glad to see one more saloon on the streets.
  3. The reason is that the new system for calculating the motor tax rates was introduced in 2008 (and after modified in 2020): all cars registered until the 31st December 2007 pay according to the engine size while all cars registered from 1st January 2008 onwards pay according to the emissions. This explains the difference between 2006 and 2008 GS and 2004 and 2008 Prius which only pays 160 euros with the same emissions as mine. The absurdity of these criteria is that they do not consider the value of the car through the years and the result is that on the second hand market today there are plenty of Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Lexus, and other premium cars with big engines registered before 2008 in good conditions which cost relatively very little (after all they are 15-16-17 year old cars) but that nobody buys because of the crazy motor tax rates. This Cayenne below is an example but actually there are cheaper than that https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/porsche/cayenne/fpa/201807288889166?journey=Search Honda Legend https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/honda/legend/fpa/202002177418185?journey=Search GS 300 https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/lexus/gs300/fpa/202107064694081?journey=Search
  4. 2020 IS300H pays 190 euros and costs 44,900 euros 2016 GS450H pays 400 euros and costs 34,995 2015 GS300H pays 190 euros and costs 24,950 euros 2006 GS450H pays 1,809 euros and costs 2,650 2008 GS450H pays 790 euros and costs 9,950 euros (but there is another one from a private for 8,000 euros). To conclude: my 2004 Prius pays 413 euros and it is worth maybe 1,200 euros (maybe a bit more). It does not really make sense that somebody who can afford a new RX450H pays less than my Prius and on the other hand somebody who wants to buy a 2006 GS450H for only 2,650 euros must pay 1,809 euros in motor tax. It does not make sense either that the new or recent Lexus models pay less than the older models when they cost a lot more. This is the absurdity of our politicians.
  5. Just to give you an example of motor tax in Ireland for some SUVs: 2019 RX450H pays 280 euros and costs 67,950 euros 2007 RX400H pays 1,809 euros and costs 3,750 euros 2008 RX400H pays 1,250 euros and costs 6,500 euros 2021 NX300H pays 420 euros and costs 54,250 euros 2017 NX300H pays 270 euros and costs 36,900 euros 2020 X5 pays 790 euros and costs 107,950 euros 2008 X5 pays 1,250 euros and costs 9,550 euros 2020 Q7 pays 790 euros and costs 95,950 euros
  6. You could post some pictures without the number plate if that is your concern. After so much asking about Lexus cars we are curious to see yours.
  7. It should not beep if in ready but with the gear in P. At least it is like this in my Prius.
  8. Me too I am looking for one but I would prefer creamy interior. There are several ones on autotrader but I am not sure with ivory interior. Anyway for me there are enough on sale in UK but I live in Ireland.
  9. Fabulous car!!! Congratulations!!!
  10. Oh dear! Ok but when he thought about buying an electric car, did he think about where to charge it? In other words I tend to think that he bought it after installing a charging point in his house and without this possibility I really doubt that he would have bought it.
  11. If your son lived in a flat without private parking space and charging point, would he have bought an electric car? This is all the point of discussion here.
  12. The point is not that I don't like the answer but as Linas explained and if you had read 6 pages of discussion you would understand that we are disputing the possibility for the majority of motorists to own and comfortably charge at home an electric car. Your question if we can fill up the tank at home with petrol does not make much sense in my opinion.
  13. Does everybody in UK live in a mid terraced house with a charging point for an electric car? I don't need to fill my car with petrol at home because I go to the so called petrol stations where you fill up the tank in 3-4 minutes and pay.
  14. Ah ok I misunderstood. I thought it was cheaper with Toyota dealer.
  15. At least you service the CT with Toyota prices instead of more expensive Lexus ones.
  16. Excuse me Linas could you please explain what FL and LSS mean? Thank you

    Hi

Welcome Kuba. I am also looking for a GS450H. I had found one but the owner is not going to sell it anymore in the short term as he will not get a company car anymore.
  18. This one just appeared on sale and it seems high spec. It seems a bit too expensive though. What do you think? https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/lexus/gs450h/fpa/202107235366099?journey=Search
  19. OT I find Linas' contributions informative and useful.
  20. It happened to me a couple of times years ago to be on the left hand side of the road driving a left hand drive car in Slovakia and in Italy because I was still used to drive in Ireland. Opposite drivers were looking at me suspiciously. Now I can easily switch between left and right hand drive without confusion.
  21. I have been spending 2 weeks in Slovakia every year since 2008 usually since around 20th August. Sometimes I go even twice a year (occasionally for Christmas period). We are visiting my wife's family there. I find Slovakia and Slovak people very friendly and helpful. Also everything is so cheap. In 2 weeks we eat almost always outside in restaurants and pubs. I find Bratislava very beautiful and a very underestimated capital in Europe.
  22. Hi Clifford and welcome to the forum. I am surprised that there is only £1k difference between the 2 cars. Personally I would go for the one with the lower mileage. At 180k miles there is a major service (at least on the hybrid models) I think so the cheapest option should have just been serviced.
