  1. Well done! Actually memory seats on Takumi does also include memory setting for mirrors to adjust between Me & Mrs at the touch of a button
  2. CT 2 tone looks like a pano but it is not, post 2018 Takumi models had sunroof as standard.
  3. Nice v low mikes 460f in silver on sale see Lexus used approved website sorry no idea how to share link!
  4. Yes similar issue but ultimately does it make any difference to price to change if replacement is also 30% more. Question: is it worth upgrading 2014 facelift CT (lovely car) to post 2017/8 facelift model? Is the drive any different/better and how much better will it be at say 10k miles against 43k miles?
  5. I have no experience of owning a Volvo but on past experience interior build quality and finish on the S90 saloon definitely a cut below the GS and the dealership was several levels below Lexus and not luxury, enough to put off a customer. May have improved by now and caught up.
  6. Fantastic cheese grater grill type! Happy memories of those but died together with Scorpio, Rover 800 and various Renaults and Saab 9-5. Best of the left field lot was Alfa 164 in our family which I was lucky enough to drive as a young man, was always amusing to see boy racers trying their luck to race it…
  7. How nice and many thanks for sharing! I fell in love with LS years ago when I used to see a silver and gold parked together as in your pic here
  8. 2 interesting points of engineering to note: 1. LS was designed to be so well built that the first 60k miles should show no deterioration from new; 2. Interior nvh designed to be so quiet that you can hold a normal conversation at 60 mph without raising voices. Both points work in action! But remember this car cost around £100k new and running costs are therefore high although I imagine still lower than rivals. In contrast, took a friend’s nice high spec E class to Mercedes dealer which was an enormous shed lacking in any real human interaction or customer care. Decided then and there I will not spend a small fortune on the S class only to be treated like that! Good choice too…
  9. I have both Relax and the older (v expensive!) extended warranty so not sure which one applied here.
  10. Wanted to share this with all. My LS 600 went in for service to Lexus Sidcup recently. All fine. But turns out that surprisingly, the sunroof seal has perished and requires complete replacement. Not to worry, Lexus accepted warranty claim to fit entire new sunroof since seal is one piece with the glass. However, given how rare the 600 facelift is, the part is coming from Japan (non in stock in Europe) hence ongoing delays. I was travelling on business last week and did not chance it in the LS as the wind buffeting and noise from the sunroof is quite pronounced at speed. Not to worry again, Sidcup very generously gave me a loan car UX for 3 days since the part has still not arrived and I was able to travel safely albeit not in quite the comfort of the mighty LS! Another example of outstanding customer service and special mention for Aidan and Kevin and the team over in Sidcup. I doubt any rival would have seen the issue and dealt with it in this way and it is the reason I keep going back as I know and trust Lexus will just deal with any issue in its stride.
  11. I have the facelift LS600 Premier, really special and unique car. Occasionally the subject of interesting and bewildered looks from either those in the know or those who have never seen one! Running costs definitely higher than various previous GS models before it but ride on a long journey just awesome. Recently had UX courtesy car, v nice little car but actually felt like it was travelling at speed at 65 whereas LS at that speed is whisper quiet, not straining any muscle and feels more like 30! Utterly serene and under the radar which is what I love. Would highly recommend…
  12. Great customer service experience entirely Co systems with my own. I have now owned 6 Lexus models, 9 across wider family and currently have 2. Consistent care and attention really on a different level to others and you can be assured the dealers will be fair and try and be interested and helpful, rather than tick you off as another number visiting their shed that day. I will post a recent outstanding experience I have had at Lexus Sidcup on the LS forum shortly but echoes everything above.
  13. Fsport will always be a touch firm both in ride and steering. Never too hard as it is still a Lexus comfort machine. Premier has best of both worlds. Super smooth in normal mode but close to F in sport or sport plus mode which tightens steering and improves throttle response. If 80% of your driving is smooth and relaxed then definitely go for Premier as you can switch for other 20% and still enjoy the additional features over the F. 300h is an excellent well balanced car BUT if you want to enjoy the performance and smoothness then please go for 450! i have owned 4 GS models including the unique 460 which is v similar to 450 and even smoother with V8. Then had 300 got 6 years of total fuss free ownership but minus the fun…
  14. Totally agree, made to be used and enjoyed! I have a LS600hl, totally unique only ever seen 2 others on the road, do very low miles but each short trip enjoyable and any long trip an absolute experience. Love the LC but does seem low and wide. How will I find comfort, access and ride coming from the beast?
  15. Interesting, how would you rate ES v XE v XF? Jaguar seems to be deliberately killing its saloons and focussing on SUVs and electrics, no new Xj after all…sad really.
  16. Have had CT as second car for 4 years to LS600hL, really excellent little car. Typically superb Lexus build quality, best solid interior in class, sporty ride a good contrast to floating LS, super refined and comfortable, large enough for 4 people and hatch boot really flexible, v cheap to run and so very reliable. Would love to buy a new replacement if Lexus build a mark 2, otherwise a UX will beckon at some point.
  17. I have ones both shapes. Unless you really need the speed of the 450 I would definitely go for mk 4 250: really classy interior especially with 12 inch screen, wider track so better more planted ride, even more refined and quieter, better seats and comfort, performance fine and you still get a nice smooth v6.
  18. Thanks Sota This is very helpful. You say ride is a bit harsher but is is still much better than smaller models like GS/ES? Just want to get an idea as to how much different to 600? I have the 13/17 facelift 600hL. I find the ride is even smoother and plush on ride high mode around town on our awful potholed and cracked roads. So I now just use raised height in town and lower at higher speeds. Have you experienced same on your 500/600?
  19. I am a LS owner here so experienced RXL as a service car, having driven many RXs over the years. Really interesting points. I thought better ride could be due to added length and weight of RXL. Also, is the fsport (whether original or facelift) much better to drive with heavier steering and better road feel compared to standard model?
  20. Would be very interested to know of other colleagues’ experience of going from Ls600 to LS500? Looking at the US forums a number of owners of the 600 comment a downgrade in ride comfort as 500 more sporty and miss that amazing 5.0 V8 as against 3.5 V6 in 500. Having said that the interior of the 500 looks and feels awesome.. Anyone out there with direct experience please? Would you recommend the move ?
  21. Just had facelift RXL as a service car. Noticed that compared to original 2015/6 model: 1. Better smoother ride with less lean and float; 2. Better more weighty steering compared with way over light original; 3. However, still an odd interaction between cvt and engine on electric/power transition, Lexus have not managed to improve this; 4. Interior looks good but starting to show its age somewhat. My guess is many RX owners may now go for newer NX model? Will be interested to hear from others on facelift v original here.
  22. Thanks Rayaans Agreed re:ES, in US it was Lexus’ best selling car until suvs appeared and was based on Camry. Globally everyone knew it was mid spec between IS and GS, so all the more disappointing Lexus Europe tried to spin it as a direct GS newbee which it clearly is not. My Lexus dealer told me many other GS owners also easily spotted the lower quality. Fair point on price though. Astonishing people could spend £64k on a rattle box 4cyl diesel. What is worse is the A8 top line diesel at about £110k. The ES will be much more refined around town but A8 better on motorways as can’t hear the awful diesel noise at that speed. No apologies on diesels I have been screaming against them for years.
  23. The ES is pretty refined with a better ride than GS. Plenty of power from 300h unless you drive as if you need 450h. For me the let down of ES is mediocre interior finish, too many plastics and quality definitely below GS. I agree with other colleagues, try a used LS 460/600. Having owned several GSs I went for LS600hL premier. Extremely rare as now 70 post 2013 sold, currently 2 on Lexus used to check out.
  24. I have owned both models and newer one has these advantages: Wider track do feels more planted on road, even more refined and quieter, best interior in class, more solid build, better newer tech especially with 12 inch screen, better seats. provided maintenance ok and fLsh mileage will be no problem. Good luck!
  25. GS much better driver’s car and so feels more nimble. 460 made a nice V8 noise when using tiptronic, unlike previous GS430 which was silent all the time. Oh how I miss that 460! As you say LS one of the very best motorway wafting machines and overall ride quite a bit better than GS which is what I was looking for, via a GS300h in between. To give it credit LS does not feel huge to drive until you turn around and see the vast cabin in the back or notice its image on a building when on the road, beautiful and unique only ever seen one other update on the road.
