  1. We've got the Brittax Club Class extra that M&S did (don't why it was exclusive to M&S but it fits and blends in with the black interior - oh and its supposed to be pretty safe tooo !!!!). Putting this seat in in the standard way seemed to be a bit unstable so I loop the seat belt through the clip only on one side and loop through the gap on the other side (difficult to explain I know - but this method was recommended by the Brittax people). (Also, phone Brittax helpline - they give a list of all the seats that fit into certain cars).
  2. Does that mean they just bought your car off you? - i.e. you didn't trade it in against something they had ?
  3. What did you get to replace your is200 ?. Just interested to see what people go for after an IS200 !. Also, did you not consider selling privately ? - was it the hassle or was the price the garage gave you too good ?! I'm selling mine early next year and just trying to organise how I do it. Appreciate any advice.
  4. Why bother ? - accept the fact that you bought a Lexus because YOU like it - not because everybody else should like it. Not everybody is ever to like a Lexus - everybody has different tastes - you could spend a lifetime trying to convince people about the pros of owning a Lexus but if they are too dim to see it then don't waste your time - spend your time enjoying your Lexus instead!. Gotta go, just spotted my mate in the car park......... DAN !..........DAN !..................DAAAAAANNNN, DAN! , DAN !, DAN!, DAAAAAAAAANNNNNN!!!!!!!!
  5. I have experienced this to some extent but this is what annoys me about Lexus GB & Lexus dealers. There cannnot be any valid reason why a Lexus UK dealer can justify giving a lower trade in value for a car sourced within Europe and has extactly the same spec. as a UK car. (Aren't there laws stipulating that you have to treat all goods bought within the EU in the same way?). At the end of the day, something is worth only what someone else is prepared to pay for it so I guess that's as far as it goes. It still annoys me that we in the UK should even have to pay a 'premuim' for the privelage of buying from a UK dealer. Interested in seeing how an 'Authorised Dealer' views this.
  6. Be wary of what the UK dealers say - obviously it's not in their interests for you, or anyone else for that matter, to get the same thing cheaper elsewhere. I got mine from Denmark to full uk spec - only difference was mine didn't have the lip spoiler or the chrome exhaust tailpipe. This can easily be, as was, done once you get the car - saving you a lot of money in the process. I haven't had any problems with insurance either - but depends on the insurance company. Lexus UK wouldn't quote for a car not sourced from the uk.
  7. I don't agree with the strike but I do have sympathy for them. When I heard how much money they are on and compared this, for example, to a london underground train driver (30K+), I was totally shocked . - they save lives (and many other professions do as well but this is about firemen) Lets face it, how many people go to work in the knowledge that they might not come home again I know 40% sounds a lot but 40% of what they get is not a massive amount. Perhaps they should increase it year on year and do it on a gradual basis.
  8. C'mon, give him/her the benefit of doubt - could be their initials ! - poor souls !.
  9. Can only comment on what I have fitted which are Dunlop SP 9000 Sport. Recently got a new set for 472 all inc. (works out at 118 per corner). Did 25K in the last set and more than happy with them.
  10. - I know what you mean !. I guess it's different for different circumstances - it would be our only car so I drive in the morning for the nursery run and the wife drives in the evening to do the pickup - I've got very familiar with the electric seat knobs on the Is200
  11. Just got my second set of Dunlop SP9000's - did 25K in the first set - could of gone on as well but thought I'd change before the rains came . I'm pleased with them although they are the only ones I've had on the IS200 so can't really compare - the Bridgestone are said to be better at holding the road but don't last as long.
  12. I'll be trading my IS200 Sport (sat nav) in v.shortly unless anyone knows someone who wants one.
  13. Confused . Just been told that none of the RX models have memory seats - electric but not memory.
  14. Ok, I admit it may sound lazy keywest but if minimal effort is required every single time I get in the car and when the wife gets in the car then I think paying for a Lexus this should be standard !. How many times do you change the drivers seat settings?. Also, it's the fact that you can get the perfect driving settings and have the same settings every time you get in the car. If it takes 10 secs each time I get in the car to change the settings, and 10 secs for the wife to change the settings when she gets in the car then if I multiply that by the time I've had the IS200 (with electric seats as well), and how many times I've got into drive the car, multiplied by the time the wife gets into drive the car then it adds up to.............. ermmmmm.......well you get my drift -
  15. I've heard a few people mentioning the chewing of cd's but I haven't experienced it yet in mine ! - perhaps it's the type of music that it doesn't like !!! :D You are right about the mpg at the bottom, voltage then temp. at the top.
  16. Thanks for the reply. Interesting that it does have memory seats - they don't seem to advertise this fact in their spec sheet where in the SC430 spec. they do - Maybe they put as much as poss in the spec sheet for a more expensive car to make it look better (look better on paper that is!!!!)
  17. Mmm, looks like they don't have memory seats after reading the spec sheet. Great shame since it would have everything I need for my next car. If anyone knows of an RX300 SE for sale then please let me know - I'm in the market for one which also means I'm going to trade in my IS200 Sport. Guess I'll be scanning the Lexus Dealer's approved cars stock......
  18. Question for you RX300 owners out there..... Does the RX300 have electric memory settings for the driver seat ? Cheers.
  19. Jenners, what was the most competitive in our area. Can you remember? Unfortunately, it didn't seem to cover all the dealers, I think the point they were trying to get across was that prices differ all over the UK rather than visit every dealer. I'll double check tonight though (haven't got the mag on me) to see if there are any others that are reasonably closer that are worth the extra mileage !
  20. Anyone read the article in What Car? about IS200 servicing costs review?. Nothing earth shattering but interested to read that my local Lexus Dealer (Hatfield) is the second most expensive for 10K and 40K services (Park Lane - London being the most expensive by a long way.) Cheapest was Lexus Glasgow but can't see myself travelling to Glasgow - wonder if they do pickup / drop off
  21. Jimmy, where do you get your prices from ? - would be quite interested in seeing how much I would have to trade mine in for. I see so many different figures branded around in various mags etc that I don't know which to believe !
  22. 3 stone - from an auto box I suppose it worth trading in my athletic build for the ease of an auto
  23. After dropping off my car at the dealer I picked up the courtesy car and it had an auto gearbox and now I want one ! - perhaps I am getting old but it was so nice just to put it in gear and off you go. Now considering selling the IS200 Sport - anyone want one ? :) Have always avoided auto gearboxes since driving but perhaps now I have seen the light, driving was so much easier
  24. I agree with you Claire. I personally haven't saved any money at the moment and since my local dealer does not give discounts then I won't save on servicing unless I go further afield. However, must say I've gained a lot from the forums and worth paying the relatively small charge for service :) If I'd of found the club earlier I would of saved money on the sports grille but hey ho.
