  1. v.funny. Although sadly I think that this diary entry could be seen in many other car owners diaries - perhaps they are preparing to be a beemer driver <_<
  2. I also have lived and worked in Singapore and it's true to say that the traffic is better for the simple reason that the cost of owning and running a car is rediculous. For a basic small type car you are looking at about 60K with taxes etc etc. I once got a lift back fron Changi airport in..... a Lexus LS something - the guy said it cost him 200K !!!! - don't know if that was true or not but sounded impressive. The MRT system is excellent. Used it all the time, and when we didn't use that we got taxis because there are so many of them !- although the taxi drivers pick and choose who they pick up !!! Still prefer to live here though
  3. Car feels good, good grip and am just keeping an eye out for the wear on the tyres - everything looking fine at the mo. Seemed to have all the right equipment but to be totally honest I am no expert when it comes to what is the state of the art equipment - I rely on the superior knowledge of the rest of you to give me some guidance !! As mentioned earlier, v.happy with the tyres since they last a lot longer than I was led to believe when I first got the IS200.
  4. Yep, finally went to ATS in Potters Bar. £472 all in for 4 x Dunlop SP9000 sports, inc fitting balancing and alignment. I had the same on before and was happy with them so kept to the same. I think there are cheaper options but there comes a time when you have to take the plunge !
  5. Long delay in me getting to the dealer but I finally managed a vist today. Turns out an oil change is not in order since it would not solve the problem. Apparently, it needs a new 2nd gear and a new selector fork. Waiting to hear when they can do the work.
  6. Sorry, just read a previous thread that looks similar so I'll have to try that when I get home i.e. unlock/lock/unlock/lock. cheers.
  7. Has anyone experienced problems with their remote key and unlocking the car :?: The wife is out and about and has called me with the alarm sounding off in the background saying that the key does not unlock the car. Tried unlocking manually and, as expected, the alarm goes off because of the motion sensors etc. Anyway, for whatever reason, the alarm was still going off whilst she started driving off down the road and then stopped:?:. Gotta try another key but I feel a visit to the dealer coming on........ womdered if anybody has any words of wisdom! (the red light on the key is coming on which I assume means the battery in the key is fine). cheers
  8. Mine was also reduced by adding the wife on the insurance. I think their thinking here is that you won't be driving the car all the time, your other half will be, and given that they are regarded as safer drivers, their risks are reduced. If it's cheaper then I'm not going to complain - just put the money saved into the SC-pot
  9. Agree with Chris. Wouldn't dream of putting it through one of those car washes. You'll get a better finish if you do it yourself and a good opportunity to check your car. If you can't be bothered doing it yourself then pay someone else to do it for you (as long as you trust them !)
  10. I've been invited down to the dealer to let one of the guys drive it and see whether the oil change would make any difference. I'll let you know how I get on.
  11. Has anyone fitted the TOYO PROXES T1S's :?: Just wondering what the wear it like on the IS200
  12. Always happy to help the club and I have tried the link on the site but still waiting for a response. - I'll be little more patient - but there comes a time when my slicks have to be replaced:D
  13. Mentioned the gear changing 'clunk' to my dealer and they are saying that they will change the gearbox oil. Anyone else had this done :?: and did it make a difference:?: cheers
  14. I've got a quote from a 3rd party and from Lexus Hatfield - both very similar prices so either they are both expensive or both cheap ! - just over 500 for 4 Dunlop SP9000's all incl.
  15. Thanks for the reply. I have the Dunlop SP9000's on mine and having done over 24K on them I think I will stick with them. My issue is really to do with the alignment / tracking that others have mentioned that 3rd parties don't have the equip./know how to set/adjust appropriately.
  16. Having read previous threads I was wondering what the consensus was when replacing tyres. Do you recommend only going to a Lexus dealer and having them do the tracking etc or going to a 3rd party:?: Cheers in advance.
  17. Yip - there's definately an option to say the tyres have been changed.
  18. Sometimes I have experienced this - I thought I was driving too fast for it to keep up . Doesn't happen all the time but seem to be noticing it more recently. Bit of a long shot but I'm going to see what happens when I change my tyres since there's an option to say you've replaced the tyres :?:
  19. Can't comment on the 'nibbling' or the tramlining but I do think that either more people in the south prefer not to drive on the inside lane because of this effect or there are more beemer drivers down south because nobody seems to drive on the inside lane apart from lorries !!
  20. Welcome to the club Haggis. I got all 5 of mine changed under warranty - they are refurbished apparently but you wouldn't be able to tell. I prefer them because they are much better to clean
  21. Funnily enough - given the list - (and the list is wrong) - The IS still looks more desirable - esp the bit where the Audi has a 'comfort pack' as extra - does that mean the Audi without the 'comfort pack' is uncomfortable
  22. I've now had my IS Sport for 2 years (the longest I've had any car) - very happy with it except I probably will change it for something bigger - keeping it Lexus of course:tumble:. Looking at the Autoexpress article seems like the launch of the RX350 (if that's what is gonna be called) will be just about right
  23. I've paid for insurance on the courtesy cars I've had - they 'almost' charged me for insurance for having a car whilst mine was having warranty work carried out - Never got to the stage of arguing because they waived it before I could say anything. This is Lexus Hatfield by the way.
  24. if you go above about 5 mph then all the options are greyed out.
  25. Electric MEMORY settings would be nice. :)
