  1. Hello Chaps, Just a quicky, The sat nav data in my 56 250sel is really getting me down, "missing motorways, no known road in this town etc..." so i fancies the update. I've looked on the forum and through the manual, and remember seeing the graphic of how you extract the disk but for the life of me i cant find it now. Cause i cant get the bl**dy disk out to get the serial number off it. Any one point me in the direction of the method or graphic instructions to getting those little fiddly pin point screw driver thingys into the little holes at the right angel to get the front panel off From what i understand from the map update site you need the number off your disk to put in the search engine on the web site, which tells you which disk you need to buy. OR Does someone know the generic codes for the disks for 2005-2006 version 1 If anyone has a spare 2007-2008 disk or an even more upto date UK only disk i would be happy to part with some hard earned for it PM me if you have.. Cheers Infinity.........
  2. Interesting, My second choice would have been the X1 Xperia but there is no release date yet. It just looks quite a bit bigger than the HTC Diamond and the menu system in the HTC looks a lot more intuitive. A friend has the Touch Cruise and i like that alot. I could be a problem transfering the contacts individually and i have nearly 900 in my Blackberry.
  3. I have a 90' elbow which gives me two outputs and is low enough to close the armrest. bought it at a local caravan place. Infinity.....
  4. The nice chap at Vodaphone said buy what you like and we'll reimburse your contract up around £450.00 as a credit. Its on expansys at £505.00 although i have'nt looked around yet. i can live with a £55.00 bill How did you get them to do that? Are you a really heavy user? I have two phones on one contract. The better half dosent use hers very much but mine gets hammered to the tune of around £200-£350 a month (Business calls mostly) I have the largest contract vodaphone do and i still blow the minutes and more each month. Plus the Blackberry connect and Data package on top, it all mounts up.
  5. I have an htc TyTNII that works very well in my IS250 - no Blue Tooth problems. It connects without taking it out of my pocket. I had a Palm Treo 680 before that and found it much easier to use in many ways, but unfortunately the providers of mapping software for walking do not support the Palm OS so I was forced to change to Windows Mobile 6, or carry a second device when walking. Windows Mobile 6 really isn't very good compared with the Palm OS, bloated and slow would be my description, but "when the devil drives" etc. Thanks Sagitar, Any problems up loading the phone book, and do you get the full properties display in the phone menu. ie, Battery, signal, bluetooth etc. The Blackberry i have can disconnect during or between calls which is really annoying and to reconnect you either have to stop and push the buttons or hope it reconnects automatically, which is'nt good on a long drive. 7. Loggyboy, Thanks for the quick response, but i was more looking to the owners of the new IS with the MM system in to figure out compatablity issues. Cheers, Infinity.....
  8. Hello All, Its been a while since my last confession (Sorry wrong forum) :P I am considering a new mobile phone as the Blackberry is rubbish with the MM in the car. Has anyone tried an HTC handset, and are there any bluetooth compatability issues with them in terms of the MM in the car. I am thinking about the new (not out yet) HTC Touch Diamond. Any feed back would be beneficial as i dont want to invest in a turkey like the Blackberry Pearl i have now. PS. Just got the car back from Lexus Teeside after having more than half resprayed. A line of barriers blew over on it up in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago. Cracking job they have done. Just waiting for the wheels to be changed under warranty as they are on back order, seems Lexus have the same issue with the new IS as the IS200's with the wheels corroding. Thanks in anticipation. Infinity..........
  9. Wouldn't bank on it. You can have a feather-light foot and yet never get to see the dizzy heights beyond 38mpg! Go for the 250 with MM and Auto, the Auto is tax band F and the Manual is Band G so cheaper there I drive to Manchester at least once a week and the worst i average is 45MPG up to the dizzy heights of 54MPG the best i have ever done is 56.4 on a round trip of 320 miles at 70mph ish. If i push it upto 85 the consuption drops down to about 42mpg I, like the majority of the guys on here dont like the 6th gear in the oil burner. Infinity.
  10. Dont get too keen on a new oil burner, rumor has it Lexus is going to stop production after all of fthe complaints, and is trying to squeeze the hybrid technology into the IS but its struggling to fit it all into this chassis. The battery is just to big for the car. The choice is a boot or a battery.
  11. Halfords do a 90 degree elbow which has 2 outputs it fits perfectly and you can plug in the obligatory phone charger also without cable clutter on the centre console.
  12. I know this topic has been covered before, so a search through the forums may give you more than i can. It is possible to do but with its own pitfalls You can create a DVD using Audio DVD Creator a piece of software that records MP3 albums onto DVD as video type files in chapters. you can get alot of data onto the disk but it all disapears off the screen once you drive away. If your driving and want to change albums you need a good memory. Easier Option Buy an MP3 player and plug it into the aux port in the armrest. or Lexus now do an ipod intergration kit which i think is around £250 fitted this gives some control and visibility of tracks on the screen
  13. strain it thru a loaf of bread( ends cut off of course) this helps remove the purple colour and refine the taste a bit Run a can of Brasso through the loaf as well it takes the edge off the meths
  14. Waited and waited to do this just in case things changed, but i'm not going to make it the better half wants a holiday and is stuck with dates, so the choice is 2 weeks in Florida or a possibly wet weekend in Germany. You do the maths. Maybe next time. Have a good trip and dont bend it. infinity.....
  15. If its the roof console one, then its not available for UK spec cars as some electronics to do with the security system hide underneath the blank panel. Infinity.
  16. The main difference is the speed - it is so fecking fast!. It really does take off like a rocket. It is eerily quite when you turn it on and press the accelerator, although that only lasts a couple of seconds because above 5mph or so the engine kicks in and it sounds more normal. So true. Reverse is even worse - it works almost totally on Electrics... I did one of those Magnum PI Ferari starts (like the one where he fishtails on a gravelly road at the opening credits) from a lay by on the open road event - totally accidentally. It is one awesome quick car, and bigger in the back. Just a shame the boot is the size of a pea pod. I've often thought about the GS - 'cos it so much quieter inside, and is deceptively fast - even the GS300. You don't know how fast you are going unless you look at the needles. Just not sure how economical th GS450h really is in real worlds. Brief report on the service experience at Teesside. I was met at the door by the salesman who originally sold me the car at Newcastle he knew who I was and was very chatty and pleasant. Introduced me to the service manager Iain, a very nice guy. He explained the service and was happy to have the car ready for me at the protracted time frame I was under during the day. I dropped mine off at 9:30 but needed it back 12:30pm. It was ready on my return, washed and hoovered inside and service book stamped. The bill was less than I expected as I produced my members gold card and was dully rewarded some discount. I'm extremely happy with the service and the attitude of the staff at Lexus Teesside, and the coffee is very good too. I think from now on I’m moving my business to Teesside. First Rate. Teesside loaned me a GS 450h SE for the short term the car was being serviced. Wow ...... The power is incredible coming off the roundabout outside the dealer I pushed the throttle in a similar manner as I would in the IS and the tail let go straight away followed by the traction control stepping in to hold the slide. The acceleration from stationary is ferocious. I agree with you Jamboo the car running on batteries is really weird complete silence in the cabin, really gentle acceleration holds the car on the battery up to about 30 then the engine glides in the only reason you know its happened is the graphics change on the screen then the KW needle drops as the engine takes the strain. I found the suspension a little on the very hard side then I realised it was on the sport setting, switching this off didn’t really make any notable difference. Driving from Stockton to Hartlepool and back I pushed it on the outward journey to look at the performance and took it easy on the return to look at fuel consumption, on a mix of 50/50 dual carriageway and local roads the car said I averaged 23.3mpg outward and 38.1mpg on the return. I bettered my IS on the return leg but was obviously worse in performance mode with the larger engine. Pros. Superb performance, feels much more solid than the IS and more rigid in the chassis. Interior is a pleasant place to be but the two tone white lower half leather wasn’t to my taste in this car. Economy is very good for a large car when you drive conservatively. Cons. Suspension is very hard and the boot is tiny, and i think it would struggle to pass the two sets of golf clubs test. Would i have one ?. Oh Yes. the performance does it for me. i think the GS450h will be my next car unless 5 and the bonus come up on Saturday. Then its a Maserati Quatroporte. Infinity........
  17. It may be worth asking Hodson Toyoya (Silverlink) for a quote. I have had a number of Toyotas and they have always proved to be competive. I mentioned this when I asked about service costs when I was considering a purchase at Lexus Newcastle, it was quietly sugested that I get a quote from Hodsons and then challenge Lexus Newcastle for a price match. I'll keep them in mind for the next time i need a service, if its in this car. I'm considering switching to a GS450h over the next 12 months, i'm testing one tomorrow as a loaner while mine is serviced although it may need to wait a little longer as i've just blown the cash in a new bath/wet room . I did ring Lexus Newcastle back and challenge them with the Teeside cost but all they said was the could take off the engine flush and something else and get the price down to £320 Anyone driven a GS450h i would be interested in some general comments. Infinity.....
  18. Just double checked with Teesside and the quote of £253.24 is inclusive of all parts, labour, fluids and the dreaded VAT I'm happy with that. If the service is as good as the price i will move my business to Teesside from now on Infinity....
  19. Northern Boy, i think i only paid £180.00 my 10k at Newcastle. Thanks Steve, All dealers should follow the prescribed Lexus service schedule if the fluids need changing they should be included All the quotes i recieved included all parts and labour, i am assuming all parts includes fluids. Or Is assumtion the mother of all f#@k ups. Buyer beware. Infinity..... Edit. Teesside have also kindly agred to loan me a GS hybrid while mine is serviced.
  20. I know this has been covered before but. Shopping around for a decent price for the 20k service on my 18 month old IS250 SEL Auto i found some wildly varying prices. My local dealer Newcastle £416.00 Teesside £253.00 Carlisle £290 inc vat All include all parts and labour so why the vast difference at the Newcastle dealer is it because they know i'm local and would prefer not to travel elsewhere or are they just more expensive. They are obviously also owned by different companies. I may be labouring under the misapprehension that all dealers applied the same or similar charges for the same services, is this correct or not ? A call to the service manager may be required or Hello Teesside. Infinity.....
  21. Im with Toque 22 I have a Blackberry 8100 and it disconnects at will, one call works the next won't it even drops or picks up calls mid way through, and the call quality is very poor the signal fades in and out in waves which leaves the listener catching half the conversation. I hear Lexus can reset the Bluetooth system in the car, but will this make any difference ? Infinity......
  22. Yeah Paul has a normal car trailer he'll pull with the scooby and Nick has a twin covered race box trailer, he may bring the Westfield ultralite hyabusa aswell.
  23. Hi Fellas I am seriously interested, has anyone put a 250 around the ring before? I mentioned this to a couple of mates who would also love to go. One has a mint 1973 Triumph Spifire which he would like to exersize and another has a weird all carbon firbre open wheel super light hill climb thingy he'd like to take around but it may need a bigger fuel tank for 13 miles. Just need to get my pass out stamped by the dearly beloved and im with you. Any probs bringing a few mates? Infinity...
