  1. Welcome Charles_SportCross The 200's normally need new front and rear disks and pads around 30 to 40k depending on how its been driven, check the wear on the disks and ask if they have been replaced. Stereo can be troublesome check the autochanger doesnt stick or ERR codes on the display. The older versions tended to be worse (CD slot on the bottom). As Kazi said look at the waterpump carefully had mine replaced under warranty. And get a good warranty, a good starting point is the remainder of the manufacters plus at least a year. Infinity..............
  2. BLACK very BLACK, inside and out. I have to pass the dealer on my way home from work, its just sitting there in the pre-delivery bay behind a tall fence, it takes all of my will power not to go and peer through the fence in longing each evening. Infinity............
  3. Sorry, misread the model, thought you had bought an SEL. Can you retro-fit HIDS. Good luck with the car. Infinity..............
  4. illestjt, Congratulations on the purchase. How on this green earth did you swing delivery of an auto black on black SEL with MM in just a couple of weeks I ordered mine in early April, car arrived at the dealers last week. After all this time waiting, another couple of weeks dosent make any difference, so i too am waiting for the new reg plate. Enjoy the car. Infinity...............
  5. Check out this lunacy :o RS4 v M5 Infinity...........
  6. Not to sure about the front, a bit too open for my liking but the sides, Oh i love those sills. :D Maybe would be nicer with just the hint of a power bulge in the bonnet, not as pronounced as the old IS. Infinity.........
  7. Guys, I have a little experiemce in this field as our company builds LED arrays for traffic signals. The arrays are built in strings with load resistors between them. Check the string layout on the board you may just have one bad connection on the array board.( Dry joint) Make sure the board is not cracked or twisted in its mounting and look for hot spots or burns through faulty resistors. It is a falacy that LEDs dont burn out, they do, but normally by poor circuit design or excesive heat rather than life span, do they have heat sinks on the rear. Large cluster arrays especially high output ones develop alot of heat. Car circuits with after market LED arrays usually need a balast resistor in series with the array so the load appears the same in ther circuit. Hope this helps Infinity...........
  8. Just found this interesting thread so here goes. Andy 39 (still with own teeth)married to Rosemary no kids live in Newcastle area. Contracts manager for a large traffic managment company (yes we put the cones out) SORRY GUYS Responsible for lots of events, Great North Run, Dubai Marathon, Great Manchester Run etc.. Left the Royal Navy at 19 started here at 20 and never looked back. Bought my first car (IS200 Sport) in Aug 2004 all previous had been company cars. Competed for a couple of years in the sound off stuff in a works Ford Transit Pick up motorway maintenance van with lots of HiFi in. Any one around 1997 - 2000 in sound off will probably know me. Finished 4th in Europe in 1997 and picked up Max Power Top Gun in 1998 best in show. Terrible golfer.
  9. The New IS has a very tight turning circle (Almost as good as our Honda Jazz - which is really sharp). Why don't you ask your helpful salesman to bring a car down - try it in the garage. That way you won't have sleeples nights, and you may be able to get the builder in to sort something out if needed? Pillars can be thinned out, or removed completely if the load bearing issue can be "removed" via Bracing with wood or a concrete lintel etc... No way of moving the pillar its a brace for the side wall and holds a lintel ontop. Other option may be building two new pillars and supporting the lintel on ans RSJ dont really want to go down that route after spending huge wads on the build just to go changing the thing after its finished. (I can here the wifes laughter ringing in my ears) If the turning circle is as good as you say it may be better to just drive in. Next door neighbour has a Honda Jazz. He works away but back at weekends, i think ill give that a go and see how difficult it is to get in. The FWD Ford connect needs two or three shunts when driving in, but backs in OK. The drivers door opens ok on that but the back is much shorter the the IS. Infinity.....
  10. Thanks everyone, Think i have a little problem, the drivers will open just past the pillar but i may struggle to get in and out. Need to loose weight.....BUGGER carpeted walls in the garage thats a good idea timber and foam rail all round as a bump strip with a bit of cheap shag pile down to the floor. Or is that a padded cell. I know what the wife would choose. Infinity........
  11. ah, those were the days :) I suppose if anyone knows the truth it would be you Mat. Its nice to know the experiences of car owners dont go unnoticed. Thanks to all who posted replies Infinity............ :)
  12. Opps, :duh: Might have just found a small problem with the new garage. Just had a new garage built to house the new motor. But i may have a problem The builder has put a pillar in the side wall 2.2m from the back wall. If i reverse in, can i open the drivers door without hitting the pillar. How log is the car from the very back to the body line between the front and back doors I have only 300mm at the front to inch forward but need that to get round to the exit door. Would prefer not to drive in as turning circle is not great to get in Infinity............
  13. I would say so, i think the trim is just nicer inside. The body roll is lower with the sport suspension and traction is better with the limited slip diff. Yeah i prefer the sport.
  14. Just noticed a Black 250 SEL auto MM on Lexus UK of just a shade under £26k, Less than 5k on the clock Bargin. you dont normally see any much less than £28.5K on there. Infinity.... Edited Just found another in Southhampton for £24.5k Have the SEL
  15. In my last sport (Heavy right foot) around town 20-22MPG open road 26-28 MPG 30 if i was really careful Buy it, you know you want to. You'll never regret it. Infinity.....
  16. IS Andy. Have a look on Lexus UK web Page here at previously owned vehicles, just looked there is a silver 200 sport with 85k for £9k with nav Buy the time you pay the importer and pay tax landing it in the UK you could have bought a uk spec car not sure what the homologation costs are also (Fog lights, speedo etc.). Surely better to have a uk car from a dealer with a warranty. Infinity.............
  17. What I'm trying to say is that yeah use the forum as a pressure group, just don't expect that LGB have any visibility of your post. If you want to report something that goes straight to them, report it either to customer relations directly via phone, or email one of the higher ranking individuals :) I apprciate all of the comments so far but no one has actually answered my question. The fact that we would like to think that this space can be used as a lobby or pressure group, a vent for anger at poor service or somewhere to reign praise on dealers or services is the point. If no one is listening there is no point. Thank you to the dealers on here that do listen, more please. I for one would like to think i am thanking someone for great service or emptying my spleen only to see it be absorbed and commented on by other forum members with out any eyebrows raised at a higher level. I don't want this post to sound like a rant, or labour the issue but, has anything raised on this site, as priase or derision, without direct contact with Lexus UK ever had any response or action from them Infinity..........
  18. No and yes No I dont expect someone to sit and read every post, but yes it would be interesting to find just how much they do read. And rather than be reactive to just repetitive complaints, but be more proactive in this space. Dealers surely must listen in at times but is big brother.
  19. Nice sound system. great build quality. Do you show it or compete in sound off's Infinity..............
  20. I am a relative newcomer to this site. Lots of the forum posts regularly refer to Lexus UK And the question "are they listening”? Seems to come out, fairly often. Well, my simple question is, ARE THEY?. Is there anyone regularly posting answers or answering queries from Lexus. If they are, how do we know, We all spend a great deal of personal time reading and posting in blind faith. Correct me if I am wrong but I don’t think I have ever seen one post or answer from Lexus UK. Please prove me wrong and answer this. Infinity............
  21. down south, Could'nt find lockable valve caps only locking wheel nuts. Surely when your car was delivered it came with locking nuts on, they are delivered with the car as standard. arent they? Infinity.......
  22. Sorry to hear about your trouble, sad to say its a sign of the times. I had 18's on my Astra with chrome valve caps on and eventually gave up as i lost 4 or 5 sets, switched back to black rubber. No matter how tight you make then some little B@$#@rd will get them off, and you cant over tighten them in case you damage the valve. In the end i fitted Flush Valves That confused the buggers. :duh: Hope this link helps Infinity.
  23. Names Andy Ross A 20SS V Stopped 3 times now, Legal on the back, no so on the front. Paid £250 from DVLA wanted AN51 ROS but they wont sell. Infinity...........
  24. And that aint true? 26. 39 Anyone need a Ho or some gear. Aquired my (first car) Lexus IS200 Sport at 36 now waiting for a 250 SE-L Auto 23, drove a Nissan Cabstar, most dangerous thing i have ever been in. Brake in the wet and the world just spins around, next thing you know your loking through the windscreen of the car behind you. 3 Transit Pick ups (Last one custom built interior stacked with over 5k of hifi) Beast of a sound, Competition winner and Max Power Top Gun. All down hill since then. Infinity..............
