  1. How does road/car tax work in Eire?
  2. Mine had frozen/jammed,but started working normally a few days ago.Interestingly, there is a warning message from Lexus that they are "experiencing some issues..". Perhaps someone at Lexus has bothered to actually try using it.
  3. Well that's quite a contrast..RC/GTR. A real beauty and the beast. You will find the RC a very relaxing car to drive-it's quiet, smooth ,economical and comfortable.Performance wise it is adequate. You may find it could change your driving style. Compared to the BMW conv. It is a much superior car(I had a 330d conv hire car whilst my RC was in for crash repair last year.It had a great, fast engine, but rattly and cheap interior). The GTR as you will know is phenomenally fast and brutal. Its acceleration in launch control is literally breathtaking, but parts of the drivetrain are pretty agricultural. Not for everyday driving but a real bargain for out and out performance. Good luck with the RC.
  4. Difficult but achievable. When I bought the spacesaver,It would only fit in the front boot and was well wrapped ,partly to keep it in place and partly to have something to wrap the punctured tyre.
  5. It should go in.. my wife and the AA got a large rear tyre off my Porsche into the car a few years ago,one of its numerous punctures .
  6. My 2020 model came with a shortened printed manual. The full version and similarly sized infotainment one are only on line available to download....And yes, they ramble on and on including the bleeding obvious like don't put your head in the microwave when it is working.
  7. I continue to be astounded by the number of people who don't read their manuals (or RTFM). Admittedly most of them are fairly heavy going, but it's small wonder that so many don't get the best out of their cars- or even operate them safely.
  8. Duggie's photos illustrate my point exactly (thanks Duggie).I was able to buy my spacesaver without the usual jack and superfluous items in the kit.Ordered lunchtime, delivered 8.30 am next day.
  9. The important thing to get right with spacesavers is to ensure there is adequate clearance from the brake calipers to the inner part of the wheel and between the tyre and bodywork..The correct spacesaver tyre/ wheel will bear no relation to the tyre it's is replacing.. especially the profile. As I suggested a few days ago, give Patrick at Carnoisseur a ring .
  10. I remember the 128 coupe well. I think the open door reversing technique was an early and unsuccessful attempt at parking sensors.
  11. The Italians are at it too! I got home this afternoon to find the new improved Royal Mail once a week delivery has arrived, with a bumper 4 car magazines wedged in my mailbox. A quick flick through Motor Sport shows the new Maserati mid size SUV called the Grecale....in a fetching shade of matte brown, complete with matching brown interior. It doesn't seem to have a vinyl roof..perhaps it's available as a bespoke option. Evo mag had an 8 page foldout/centrefold glossy ad for the Lexus RX electric thingy, not in brown, but resembling the top of a Duracell battery ..apt given it's a milk float.
  12. That's the one that I bought from Carnoisseur.
  13. See my post above yours. As far as I could ascertain the large front calipers on the RCF and RC f sport are the same size and from memory Carnoisseur do a space saver too for the RCF.
  14. Try Carnoisseur. The were very helpful and knowledgeable when I bought from them recently.Ask for Patrick. You may find fitting it in the LC boot a bit of a squeeze.
  15. Absolutely agree.NFU are NFU.We used them for cars and house contents and buildings. They took umbrage at my wife's haggling at renewal time and said words to the effect that farmers were having a hard time and costs had to go up...no I've never seen a poor farmer either.
  16. It looks like the red unit is pressurised to about 140psi.Should you really be playing with something you don't understand? Read the instructions, before you injure someone,or even yourself.
  17. ......and that's when it's working. It seems to suffer from constipation.
  18. Brett-I don't know if you've decided on a replacement yet,butLexus Cheltenham had a new,pre registered RCF V8 a couple of weeks ago.Ehen I spoke to them they seemed v.keen to do a deal..
  19. I (try to) use it on my 2020 RC f sport. When it is working it can be quite useful..shows you the current location of your car, sometimes, sometimes it tells you it's 10 miles away when you can see it on the drive. It tells you the current mileage reading, but never accurately (within 1-200 miles). It shows the charge level of the 12v battery--red or green. It tells you you've had an accident when some stupid woman drives into the back of you and documents the time, location very accurately and its own classification of the severity of impact. Your service history is on there as well. Unfortunately,it doesn't always work.mine is currently stuck on 15 June.Worth a try ,though
  20. You don't see many vinyl roofs these days-- do you think they might be going out of fashion?
  21. Mine has also jammed, same date ,but 5.51pm.I've tried to restart it by resetting the password, but no joy. As I've said before,a useful idea,if only it worked.
