  1. Don't apologise for still being able to get excited it's nice that you still can. I had the same(ish) thing with a SC 430 seller. I drove from Preston to Heysham and back ,because I just really wanted to see the car !
  2. I did the same exercise out of interest and found the same result.
  3. Lexigirl just had her first major service today in conjunction with her first MOT under my ownership. Like a true blue she flew through. It had been awhile so regardless of low usage she got new new fluids and filters and a thorough look over etc. Bless the garage it started a new service book for her. Indeed, if you are in that locale I can only thumb up for Castle Motors out in Clitheroe. I could of course go much nearer here in Preston for this work, but the garage was recommended to me by a forum member (you know who you are) and it really impresses me enough they can also have the XK to do this summer. After each time I drive this car I reach the same conclusion. In car terms I have never got more for my money than I did when buying this car ! I cannot say that without tipping my hat to Localhero the prior owner who probably took a decent example of this car and made it a bit more special. If you ever see me on here selling it you will know I have had some terminally bad news 😉
  4. "Two too"? Put it to music and you've got the pink panther. Are you Davd Niven reincarnated?
  5. Organic axel grease substitute.
  6. That could be up for photo of the year ! Absolutely classic !
  7. It's getting repetitive ,but Stew did the one's on my car. Counts for me ,because I use the CD player all the time when in the car.
  8. Could argue you still have not left English territory bearing in mind Joan of Navarre also became a Queen of England through marriage to Henry the 4th !
  9. Good to see someone enjoying the car in the way it was designed to be enjoyed.
  10. Not a lot of cultural differences give, or take a letter , as we also have "little gits" over here.
  11. Interestingly if you had been doing that as a Brit 'on holiday' for a bit of ravage and pillage back in 1400 you would likely have been doing it in the local dialect.
  12. I have that arrangement on the XK. Just as well as the battery is behind panels in the boot. Clearly no one wants to be removing those on a regular basis.
  13. Only that once upon a time you would still be in English territory. Aquitaine.
  14. My brother does exactly the same thing. Seems to work very well withe Internet for searches for accommodation.
  15. Probably just as well. In book 15 Sharpes Sword Wellingtons rifles left enduring memories. Although in truth they were liberators from the French under Marmont.

  17. I think we have all learned the reality is that if "pictures are worth a thousand words" then the first word might be 'misleading'.
  18. Laughing as one guy is obviously much taller judging by the legs. Blind as a bat, deaf as a post and unfortunately dumb is now in the equation.
  19. After Lexus quoted £560 to a corroded brake pipe I went to a recommended Indy. Typical local lass with decades of experience looked at the healthcheck paperwork and smirked. |She asked "do you what brake pipe costs?". Not a clue I replied. "£1.50 per foot", she informed me. Labour is the issue, but the Indy is generally going to be a lot less expensive than the dealership.
  20. That's strange. Now two red for sale on Autotrader at slightly different prices. Different reg. Different cars looking at the seat belts. However, in both there is one pic of a guys legs in the driving seat wearing exactly the same trousers? Or is it time for me to go to the opticians again?

  22. Fortunately the groups mentioned above are easily identified and avoided. Invariably they have names that start with the letter A through Z.
  23. Sounds like me growing up in the Dales with the T shirt. Any time of year just the T shirt. I don't know if its more than just a theory of mine, but I always had the feeling that if you grew up acclimatised to cold you might just get sort of used to it a bit more than people who swaddled in layers against it. There again until 3 years ago i used to walk around in shorts in Winter (local legend apparently), but my hands used to go blue and numb. Was told that's the blood supply issue with not keeping your body temp up. Started wearing trousers like other people on this planet and my hands stopped going blue so science apparently works.
  24. Potholes get any worse around here it will be Can BY Bus Only.
