  1. The wife just told her mate (a babe!) how impressed she was when I just swerved round both the guy and the parked car. :D :D Hope she did not tell her about me needing a change of underwear as well
  2. and boring ! IMO ! The IS is thirsty - to thirsty. So if you are looking for fuel economy its the wrong choice. I can stay with an A3 2.0 TDI - I think they are about equally matched on power (not MPG) A3 2.0 TDI SPORT SPEC I think of it this way - if the A3 does 38 urban, and IS does maybe 27 mpg urban, at 10000 mile per year and 85p unleaded and 89p diesel, the IS costs £26 per month more in fuel. Its worth £26 per month to be a cut above an A3 - I put high octane in which costs me about £3 a week more - but you can feel the difference in power. That said I am teetering on the edge of buying this : 2002 02 Reg BMW 330d Sport 4 Doors, Manual, Saloon, Diesel, 29,000 miles, Metallic Orient Blue. ABS, Air conditioning, Computer, Cruise control, Driver airbag, Electric mirrors, Electric windows, Foglights, Front armrest, Head . . . . (trade) £16,995 :shutit: :shutit: Not sure about colour wanted a black one. I have been looking for months but can not seem to commit to parting with my IS. It does not matter how slow or costly the fuel is, the IS gets in your heart and I will greive if it goes.
  3. On us way home from Asda, some young muppet -on the phone - just came straight out in front of me - on a back street still covered in snow. I was on the wrong side of the road as I was approaching a parked car, this guy just came out from the right towards me- he was coming up a hill and presumably did not want to lose momentum and did not slow down at all. How the hell I avoided him and the parked car *** knows, I could not have done better with a game pad ! :D Only had inches to spare. Thought afterwards what if I had hit the parked car and he drove off !!
  4. ya it is like that fella will get them looked at cheers ← If your tight like me, and have a bit of mechanical knowledge they are easy to check and change I got the instructiions from here : link Cost me about £20 for pads and did it in my lunch time
  5. Is it when manouvering to park etc - at slow speeds ? If so could be brake pads are low and clonking when applied - mine did this as have others - new pads sorts it.
  6. Got let off once, when I was 18 in a done up MK2 Escort. Coming through Headingly, when it was 2 lanes both directions. Unmarked astra with two guys in started chasing me as I had undertaken an old biddy. At this point I was not speeding (rare but true). To cut a long story short, after more under taking, overtaking in the the "third lane", and driving like a total tw4t they eventually caught me at lights and started to get out. This guy was huge. I was not hanging about, so set off, they tried taking me before the next lights, but could not manage it. So at the next llights he just put a helmet in the windscreen. I s**T myself, anyway when in the back of their car they asked what was that all about. I said all I knew was two guys were after me, I did not know they were police, just because they flashed their headlights at me, and I was not going to hang about to be beat up. (which was what I felt like) They let me off, they were actually really good and had a chat about how they drove before being cops. Just had a producer. A few months later got done going in the opposite direction, one cop car hiden the other 1/2 mile up the road. I was belting along, and could see this car (it was dark) gaining fast so put my foot down. So did he - he must have been really going - maybe a 100 in a 30 to close so quick. As we were sat in the front of his car he commented on how quick mine was - yeah not quick enough though eh !! 3 points and £30 fine. (1988)
  7. Yeah we get em at work, was from FBI first, it changed to CIA in the last couple of weeks.
  8. Will do. Its a no brainer for that price
  9. Dozing impact - but left me aggressive. Infact did an uncanny impression of Liar Liar - kicking my own a**e when I did this.
  10. I have the basic K+N replacement filter in mine. What sort of differenc to power and and noise does the type above make. And if I were to tell insurance co, does it make a big difference tp the premium - has any only actually declared it ??
  11. I've got these Heres some link But I only paid about £6 + £ 3.00 p+p . I would not pay £18, I waited and eventually got them for £6 from some seller. Had em about 9 months - never been nicked, un like some none locking ones I had. But I got those back as well, as I nicked em back of the little ba*****s bike. Lost the key thing but found a knurled screw thats easier. I'd get some if I were you. They look good on the wheels. IMO
  12. Wow. Can get em done in Leeds for £ 30 each, a co called MSS, maybe they will collect and deliver by carrier, might be cheaper . They do a very good job.
  13. Best manufacturers compared to any industry - they invented Kaizen (an engineer called Tagouchi) - Kaizen means continual improvement - which leads to zero defects. Most modern manufacturers follow the same theory.
  14. Got an email saying my email address was entered and just won the Euro Lottery. Just got to send them my bank details and they will stick it in. Yeah right Does anyone ever fall for this
  15. 20.83 MPG LAST LOT £58.00 89.9p 64.52Litres 296 miles (full to full) Er not my best MPG this week - usually urban not much m/way - rushing here there and everywhere. Usually about 25mpg. Try to keep it above 4000 RPM :P Could do with moving the red line upto 8500rpm. - I had a VW Passat Deisel 02 Reg as a co car a few years ago for 3 months - 130BHP PD SE -Triptronic in Inky Blue - it was great - MPG not as good as a manual but was still OK. - what have they done to the shape of the new one ?) I have tried driving steady to get the MPG, but cant resist a blast. So have to put up with s**t MPG.
  16. Is it my eyes are is Scarface's avatar in the door mirror ? at about 1min 24secs
  17. Yeah I was bricking it when it was right up. Cant remember why we had a block and a brick under it ? A few people driving past on the estate did a double take. To be honest we are used to lifting heavier, more expensive and more delicate machinery so it was a doddle really. Only problem was as it went up, because the handbrake was on, the front wheels started to roll up from between the forks and onto the back fork. A scary moment for sure. If you up near Leeds we can do it for you :winky: but maybe theres a safer way.
  18. Saw one yesterday with this on the back, SUICIDE PASSING SIDE <------ -----------> It was quite apt as I had tried in vain to get up the slip road before he came along side and had to drop in behind him. mmm when sub mitting the post its missing the spaces ? Anyway one part was at one side then a big gap to the other side.
  19. I undid the horns so I could get my hand in easier to push the lugs down to release the old grill.. I do not think you will break them, they are actually going through a slot so they will be supported a bit from underneath. To fit the new one you have to line up some step like lugs that go under the edge of the bumper and then push the grill into place (pushing it away from the engine) whilst kind of pushing the bumber a bit with your knee, the grill should then clip into place, with the lugs you had to push down to get the old one off locating through the slots in the grill. Ackward but got there after a bit. Mine had instructions but my Japanese is a bit rusty. Just been watching next doors kid pointing and then touching the sport logo
  20. Pool car - keeps the company fuel bill down. Sure you've seen it before.
  21. Or get it up like this Did actiually get it a fair bit higher during the process of bleeding it. just to make sure the cap was well above the top of the heater matrix.
  22. Tried using FireFox instead of MS Internet Explorer, and this gives me the Google search results you would expect. So it must be configuration problem - don't remember changing any settings :mat: I'll try the MS antispyware tomoz, when back at work - Cheers
