  1. most virus writers are very clever, some just use tools by other people which isn't clever though. i don't think that the virus writers are socially inept, just the case that most people using PC's are technically inept and unaware of the details involved in using your pc: if you compare computing to your car you find things that are pretty stupid, 1 - Car keys vs passwords You would never give your car keys to someone but its often you use simple passwords or give them out on request 2 - Virus checking Would you use your car every day without ever checking its ok (tyres pressures etc.?) 3 - Security Would you leave you car unlocked in the middle of the worst area you can think of (e.g. Mossside) People do it every day with PC's 4 - Updates A car manufacturer issues a safety warning about your car, you would update it straight away, how many people ever update PC's with new patches from vendors? If people do silly things and leave their computers in a dangerous situation there are always people that will take advantage in exactly the same way as your car, house etc. Until the average computer user learns to treat the computer in a similar way they will always have problems.
  2. i went drag racing again this weekend at SantaPod, the temperature was about 36 degrees vs 20 degrees last time I went. power and speeds were pretty much unchanged between the two outings, the engine bay was v.hot but intercooler and air going into the engine was ok.
  3. I'm with the Lexus gold people so dont envisage any problems......any its only money Car is manual ........... hopefully clutch will be up to it no chance, my clutch lasted about 6 months
  4. make it 5 s/c's! should be there around 8
  5. Hmm, I want cover for my trackday insurance, lets see if google can help..... http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=...=trackday+cover :tsktsk: :tsktsk: lexus owners clubs :tsktsk:
  6. i'd like to see some of the top secret mojo, seems to work pretty well: Search for "hifonics" "zx6400" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-...hifonics+zx6400 LOC = #4, pretty good since my signature is above valid retailers of the product!! Search for "tdi" "induction" "kit" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=...i+induction+kit #1, LOC beets TDi :D :D "tte" "supercharger" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=...te+supercharger still #1 for LOC!
  7. And i will.... But out of interest Mat, what are the adv / dis-advantages of going with the TTE box or an induction arrangement.. You might get a bit more power with the induction kit, not sure if anyone has tested this or not though. I'm pretty sure that if an induction kit would give significant gains TTE would have fitted it instead of the airbox arrangement. I would gues the induction kit is only useful if you increase the boost on the S/C, same applies for the intercooler, the uprated intercooler is only needed if you go past stage 1 on the S/C.
  8. Mat, Is there a simple way to remove them, and is it still legal after there gone? I heard the precats are only there to absorb engine gasses during the "Warm-up" period. Is this correct? So if they're removed, when it comes to MOT time, you take it to the garage after the engine has warmed up, that way they won't be able to detect any change.(hoping that they do the MOT straight away and not let the car cool down) my car got through its MOT without the pre-cats and with all the other work done to it
  9. mmmmm....sounds familiar four and a half hours to get there and one and a half to get back! it was only 110 miles ;) might as well change that signature now, your secrets out! (can you pm me the name / number of that place we were talking about? thanks)
  10. I think they were ... 150-160kph they thought.... That's about right isn't it ? I only fracture them a bit in that case :shutit: They probably mistook the 'normal traffic flow' speed... 90ish for the speed limit :) Though from Keirans comments, sounds like H. Beyer just couldn't give a stuff Or maybe he was just late for his ferry :D everyone else was doing about 90 - 100 anyway so it wasn't too bad
  11. Followed the IS430 all the way back to London, think we all need to apologise to the guys from TTE about the state of UK roads, the M1 was stop start all the way to the M25 junction, we were going 40 mph, stop, 40 mph stop. aaggggggggh Major progress once we got on the M25, maximum speed whilst following was 120 till trafiic slowed progress, awesome car, lots of looks from people on the motor way when two IS's fly past them!
  12. Once you've done it once its easy (the installers have a good deal going), the first door took almost all the time, the second door took about 10 minutes from start to finish. Decided to give it a go myself, will be doing some more tonight hopefully. I told my girlfriend about the smoking thing but at the moment she has been without for 3 weeks now without trying it, she will give it a go if she starts again this time. 3 weeks,, thats good going,, they say the first 3 days is the worst, then the next 2 weeks after,, then should be plain sailing... the first three days seem the worst, i've experienced the first 3 days 4 times now :duh:

  14. Was planning on pictures but got a bit :tsktsk: after the first hour, ended up taking door apart and putting it back together about 5 times before getting it right. The last time I thought I had everything ok, went out in the car, got to the security barrier, pressed window down button, wait for a while, loud crunch (whoops - window hit the crossover), took door apart again, moved crossover reassembled.
  15. My new front speakers arrived yesterday, started fitting at 10pm, finished at 4am. Took ages to install them properly, its worked out very well though (slight problem with tweeter though but nothing serious). Summary of special bits: 1. door looks standard from inside the car (cannot see changes in speaker) 2. inside is uncluttered, crossover and wires are all inside the door frame itself 3. original speaker basket is still there, with rivets in place (no drilling out!)
  16. Why the regret over the AudioBahn kit Kieran? don't think its really up to the quality of the other bits of kit waiting to be fitted. will see once its all fitted but i won't be changing it for a while anyway
  17. Have you had the ECU reflashed? Some of the E-Shift IS300's have old ECU software that has problems to do with slow shifting. http://is300.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=133...hlight=trac+ecu
  18. Beginning to look like my 15 rolls is not enough (maybe just do the boot), I've got some dynamat spray too. I think I'll order some dynamat to go over the top so I'll have brown bread then spray to make it flat, then dynamat on the top to make it look nice. I'll try brown bread and spray for now and then see how it goes. Wish i could change the AudioBahn kit for something else (bit of a mistake buying it I think) but will stick with it for now.
  19. Simply answer....get someone else to do it, ;) ,, i just got mu fron doors done at Oxford Audio.. can't make the time to get it done professionally (use the car every day for getting to / from work and really busy at the moment so don't have the time to take it to oxford). going to carry on doing a bit every day.
  20. 6 rolls so far in the boot (probably 10 total). using it to keep sound in, side effect is it keeps sound out. i'm using a lot (double layers) so 10 is more than most people would use
  21. 14.99 per roll or 15 rolls for 149.88 company that sells it also does gold member discount
  22. just ordered two spray cans, thanks. might have something installed for JAE but doubt it!
  23. Be careful if you add Brown Bread (or any other sound deadening material) to your car. Started to do the boot today, first roll did without gloves and have 11 aliminium cuts (like paper cuts but more painful)! Done 6 rolls now, very, very hard work, takes ages and its really hard to get in to all the places. I've no idea how do the bit on the left side between the outside body panel and inside.
