Supercharger+ Intercooler+blow Off

Looks like its going to be 2wice the cost for turbo than s/c...

Plus if your not very engine minded, i think turbo is little risky unless you bring car over to UK and have Prolex carry work out..

s/c can be fitted very easily.

Altezza Turbos are dirty cheap! (£1800-£5000) about 6 turbo kits ranging from 250bhp-420bhp :D

I felt i needed to add that :P

Mr Singh! Saw your car at JAE and loved it!!! What intercooler are you running at the mo?

Thanks bud.

Running the Blitz one, cost better part of £600 :crybaby: which is silly.

Yeh BOV on a s/c...

iirc the TTE s/c is screw type right? i doubt it would work...

It defo gave me performance improvement aswell as Pssssssh! JPS motorsport measured 8psi of boost, but the more boost the louder it would become i thinkk..

You could get one of those HKS ssqv blow off valves as they are adjustable for boost pressure and sound. They are about £200 though.

Anyway Galla, where bout in Ireland you from?? Reason I'm asking is cos if you can hold out a few weeks then I should have my turbo installed and running and you could prob meet me and have a look/test at the car.(I'm in Belfast).

I also know GRiM from this site who lives down the street from me. His car is supercharged and he is a top bloke so I'm sure he would take you a run in his car if you ask him nicely so you can compare the two mods.

I know! I know! It makes me feel so bad and dirty! Like the Pot Noodle ad!

Fitting is the issue Ahmet! I'm over in Ireland! and I dont want to let just anybody at it as it may take some fabrication of my bumper etc!

PS I resized my Avatar for you Ahmet Is it OK now? lol

Without breaking the bank who'd be good to fit this? Obviously nearer west coast is good! Manchester area! Wales!

intercoolers are a fine art ! too big and they will have an negative effect on performance, probably better to be undersized than over , its certainly not the case of what looks best  :whistling:

I was told that the ones that ASP were selling dont fit the TTE s/c

Really? That throws a spanner in the works! Yemgi where are you? Where you get your intercooler!

Looking at Yemgi's pics of installing the s/c, he's intercooler looks like the TTE one that comes with the kit

sc_1_1.jpg

My intercooler is TTE's standard one, I wanted to install a bigger one but as Bazza said, it would certainly be a power loss :(

ASP one need to modify the TTE pipes to fit but it is a nice part for such a price and an exhaust specialist would easily build custom pipes to fit

For cosmetic purpose, I think I will have it anodised in black cause it looks really small in the bumper and policemen can notice it too easily

What I said is I wanted to get a bigger one when I installed the kit but I changed my mind due to performance issues :)

I will try to have the TTE anodised when my mate come back from holidays

I would go with an adjustable BOV,

which you can set for the low boost of an S/C. :winky:

Such as?

...mine :D

BLITZ Dual Drive BOV :winky:

OK so the Blitz Dual Drive BOV has a small port for low boost(supercharger) + larger port for high boost(Turbo), therefore I could use the small port for low boost which would be the boost created from a TTE supercharger?

Well, you can also get low boost with a turbo.

At low boost it sounds like "ts-ts-ts-ts..." and high boost like "TSSSHHHHhhhhh"

But what I meant wasn't those 2 ports, this doesn't play a roll for SC or TC.

What I wanted to recommend for the SC is an adjustable BOV like the Blitz.

There you have a small screw on the top, where you can adjust it harder or softer.

At softer it opens earlier (for lower boosts), at hard setup it opens later (higher boost).

:winky:

But how do you fit a BOV to a s/c?

I would close the bypass, build apart the bypass hose and fit the BOV where the bypasshose stucks to the pressure-side of the compressor.

Correct?

Where do I get the signal to tell the BOV to open?

What is the driving difference between BOV and bypass-system. Any gains on the BOV to build up pressure faster after gearchange for exmpl?

Perhaps Mr Singh or Yemgi can help on this! They should be along soon!

Not 100% sure on the TTE/IS200, but to tell the BOV to open you require small vaccum pipe from the throttle body or early part of the inlet manifold.

GALLA - I got mine from e-bay...

I would also like to see what Mark @ TDi reckons... if anyone knows pros' & cons to the BOV on a TTE system, its him!

Phonedrome - i did notice difference on gear change, boost is alot better when quick changing... defo performance gain for mine.. but its diff type of s/c to the TTE system.
