  2. Unfortunately, its now cheaper for me to insure an EV over a CT. I'm also getting quotes over £800!!!
  3. Dear fellow Lexus CT drivers Has anyone had problems with car insurance? My insurers has advised me that they no longer will insure Lexus CTs due to "large increase in the number and cost of claims " The cheapest quote is now over £800? (over 100% more than I pay currently) Has anyone else had these difficulties? Do you know any car insurer who offers better renewal price? Thanks all! Nadeem
  4. I'd love to know how to get these MPG numbers. My cars a just over a year old with 9000 on the clock In the last couple of days I've done so longish runs, almost on all motorways or dual carriageways. 1) 135 miles with a score of 88 I got 48.8mpg (averages speed 49mph) 2) 65 miles with a score of 94 I got 48.5mpg (average speed 61mph) 3 72 miles with a score of 92 I got 55.5 mpg (averages speed 52mph) All three with just driver and no heavy luggage. A good proportion of 1 and 3 were on Adaptvie Cruise set at 52mph in roadworks. Apart from turn off the Aircon, I can't think of anything I could really do to change that much.

  6. I think people should stop buying the original battery if thwy dont drive regularly. Sounds like there are several reports on this forum of issues if not driven regularly. I have a Yuasa sealed silver calcium battery that im sure is cheaper than the original and i also use my car infrequently ie just about 30-40 mins 3 days a week and have not had these issues(touch wood). Ive gone on holiday and left the car standing with the battery connected for close to a month without issues. The wifes jazz also has a yuasa and its been 6 years now no issues.
  7. Nope, that's not just you. Takes me about 10 dips before I get any confidence in the reading
  8. i Have The same set up Gary although don,t have Dashcam .. I would hazard a guess and say its got something to do with your settings in the app...Because can,t see why the Two devices can,t run side by side... Have you got a Tracker installed I Bought the DB2 by Rewire Security And its quite simply the best Little gadget i Have EVER bought...Check it out.. also watch the Dashcam dosen,t drain your 12v battery Some say it is ok but i have my Doubts.. Keep an eye on that..!!!
  9. Hi Plenty of posts already made stating some of the things i was going to mention. In summary, i've had my is250 over 10 years and added over 120k to it. I bought it from the 1st owner who i knew and got all the main dealer history. - spark plugs, a jap specialist will know what to do - regular mechanics don't want to change the three that are difficult to access. I waiting till mine started mis firing in one cylinder before changing them. - original water pump will fail - i had mine done at lexus dealer for a fixed price. - alternator will also fail at some point, like any other car (luckily i was parked at home when mine failed - you get a warning whining noise before it goes) - i haven't ever opened the auto box for maintenance - prob too late now with over 140k on the clock. My car has been bulletproof. a bit of the exhaust heat shield came off was a cheap fix to put back. Also the a/c drain got blocked and the water started coming into the car, another cheap fix. The front passenger door had the lock actuator fail, bought one off ebay from a car being broken with labour was about £50 to sort. I think these are the 3 issues i have had which you could say are not generally expected. All minor in my view. The only thing i find annoying is that its hard to get a good reading on oil level from dipstick - but that might just be me. Also the headlights are not the best (i dont have xenon) i know i could change bulbs but cba I think the money i have saved on maintenance gets eaten by fuel but i'm happy with that!
  10. Hi I have a 2019 Lexus 300h (which I love by the way!) I have a device plugged in to my usb port that automatically connects me to Appleplay on my IPhone when I start up. This works with no problems. . Today I bought and installed an integrated dash cam. This also works well via an app on my IPhone. However - I can’t have both devices connected to my WiFi at the same time (when I click on the dashcam app on my phone I am told to first disconnect my Appleplay). Is there a way I can have both devices connected to my WiFi at the same time?
  11. Finally cleared up after speaking to Lexus head office. Lexus Parts Direct are correct in their confirmation that a replacement 12v battery purchased from a Lexus Dearlership has a 12 month warranty only and there is an annual mileage stipulation. Your 12v battery only is under a 3year less than 25k mileage warranty, if it is the original factory fitted battery and is within these time and mileage terms (plus I assume you may also have to have done the minimum 6k miles per year, so at 1 year 6k on the clock, at least 12k at 2 years and 18k at 3 years if claiming for a fault). As with most of these warranty scenarios, devil is in the detail.
  12. I think all models have the capability they just don't come with the option switched on.
  13. I've managed to obtain another complete harness (even though I've done the fly lead test) I wanted to see whether tech stream still received P3108 - and low and behold it does. I should clarify I've only connected the compressor black connector (6 wires) to the smaller hybrid ECU connector as this was the same one used for the electrical testing featured above. The lexus guidance says that there are 3 potential causes for this issue - harness, compressor or ECU, having now tried all 3, it's clearly something else!
  14. That’s impressive; especially with the motorway miles. I have a similar starting mileage showing at the moment and have found I get more than the suggested level. I’m showing 3.1 miles kw/h now overall which I’m also impressed with.
  15. Hi guys, Itheo was right, there is a hairy crack and after your comments, i realised that there is a chronic problem. i am still using adding 1 lt coolant every month. i am thinking of replacing it with starline radiator which is cheap. do you have any recommendations or experience? Thank you.
  16. I take a different view. Take account of the vendors disclosures then extrapolate from those based on your experience of such cars and I think the highest probability outcome is already 'known' statistically. Moreover we now also know that it is a 'fact' that I was blessed with zero imagination.
  17. we'll never know unless someone here gets it ! malc
  18. It seems we're being left with one deterrent only, and that is to fit the best steering wheel lock you can find. Thieves may not bother and go onto the next one if they see one is fitted. How ironic that with the march of technology used on these vehicles, we have to revert to a basic physical deterrent to make things more difficult/unattractive. Don't skimp as cheap ones are a complete waste of money and time.
  19. I only use Shell VPower or Texaco super unleaded in mine. I get around 32mpg combined and if on a long cross country drive, have had 36. The newer direct (&port) injection engine in the RX4 doesn't seem any more economical than the old one. M/Way at a steady 70mph gives me around 32mpg.
  20. I don't see the appeal for a car like this. Age and mileage effectively caps it's value. Restoration costs on top of the buy are highly likely to soar past that value even if you are a mechanic using your own labour. Parts and paint alone will surely account for that. Perhaps it needs a lot less than I think, but we have seen quite a few like this have we not so think that is not likely to be the case.
  21. When I went up to Heysham to see a SC 430 I took the seller out in mine to show him the effect of the throttle controller as his car did not have this feature. Down the dual carriageway and wallop the ton. Coming back I pass the police car parked up....they heard me gulp in Tokyo. My passenger insisted it had not been there when we came past, but I sweated for a couple of weeks expecting the worst.
  22. Yes I found the recent mot history I bit odd, wonder if it been used without a mot ? Anyway it’s very cheap so just need to take its checkered history on the chin .
  23. Maybe I am getting too soft but I try not to go over 100mph even for the shortest bursts of speed on "apparently" quiet roads as it is an instant ban followed by the insurance rip-off merchants jumping on the bandwagon. Too many cameras. When I first got the isf I gave it a little test - kick down at 65 mph on the motorway. Before I knew it the thing had leapt up to 120mph and was still picking up speed very rapidly. I had heard that the UK export models were limited to 176mph - I will not be finding out if that is true.😉
  24. Strange recent MOT history on this one... March 2018 - Passed with 88.3k, but not tested again for 22 months July 2019 - Passed with 92.5k. The main banner states MOT expired on 25 January 2021, so an out of sequence MOT taken in January 2020, 6 months early, with 27k miles added between July 2019 and Jan 2021, before being parked up. Auction ends in a couple of hours, 31 bids, currently at £1650
  25. Sorry didn't mean to dissuade you. Its definitely doable but just takes time and patience. I would say set aside 3 hours if you plan to do it and wear gloves if you have to put your hand in there to pull the wires.
