  2. £150 sounds probably less expensive than having your existing alternator refurbished / rewound maybe 🤔 Double check it’s the correct one tho’ ……. just in case ! Good luck Malc
  3. ….come, fly with the eagle’s, Stephen…..
  4. Hmm, the thought strikes me when in a hole stop digging.

  9. Welcome aboard Sam Concerning the bonnet struts, yes 2 are needed. If you order aftermarket struts make sure that they have the ball that bolts into the car at either end if those are missing from yours. Some come with the balls and others don't. If yours still has the balls fitted then you just need the strut. These have the balls https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196260124651 and these don't https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183390158334 I fitted some aftermarket ones in 2019 (can't find the link) and they still work fine several years later.
  10. As a side note, and not to scare anyone, but these rear ARS AISIN racks seem to fail....alot.... Lexus Stockport had to replace one under wartnetty for another GS 450h owner, also the specialist(s) I spoke to had two customers with the identical fault to me, they both got rid of the cars due to the costs, this to me means it's not IF it goes wrong, its WHEN.
  11. Plenty on eBay such as this one if yours is the round plug https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152756482402 or this one if it's the oval plug https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373461494815 If you absolutely have to have a Denso then chances are you will need to order from a Lexus/Toyota dealer and pay their prices.
  12. For anybody in the area who may be interested there is a show at Lytham Hall on Sunday 19thy May. Not to be confused with the Lytham Car show on the seafront on 16th June.
  13. If you consider a manual version ( not recommended if you ask me) then check out the road tax first😳
  14. There are more than a few nice vehicles there. I really like the Cherry Blossom wagon.
  15. Most of his woe’s were people crashing into him🙄 but imagine if he had a BMW or any other Germanic with a persistent EML😂 he sure would appreciate ‘reliability’ then.
  16. Based on my recent renewal experience I can safely say that despite being 57 with no claims, driving for 39 years, living in a safe area and doing only 8k miles a year I can't work out who wants to insure who. All the recommended insurers, SAGA and NFU being a couple of examples, wanted what I can only describe as ridiculous amounts to insure. When asked why the quotes were so high I was told that I don't fit their preferred customer model. Just who is their preferred customer? As for Lexus insurance - even worse that the two above.
  17. It's like any car. If you take care of it, they're great. If it's been abused and not maintained, it'll be a dog. IS250s included. IS250s, unlike many other cars, are problem free if maintained well. If you pick some IS250 competitors from the same year, with the same mileage and same service history, the IS250 would have had significantly fewer "faults" over the course of its now 19 years of life. (If we look at a 2005 example). Alternator, Water pump, spark plugs, aux belt, thermostat etc are normal service items at higher mileage.
  18. My first proper car was a Carina e (2, I think). 1.6L and twas amazing. The seats I conly assume were similar to the wool stuff they have in the Toyota Century and indeed it used to purr. I'd grown up seeing it outside my mates house as it was his dad that owned it. Lasted me about 3 years or less untilt local mech told me the fuel tank had a hole. What a shame and a waste of luxury car! Congrats on your new Camry 👏
  19. Hey dude, I'm around Brum too. I've had multiple IS250s over the years. Keep going back to them after I make a bad financial decision like JZX100, 300ZX etc.🤣 They are very reliable, and running cost is low too on a grand scheme of things. It doesn't matter what year you go for really, but given your budget you'll be looking at pre-facelift cars (2005-2008) but the changes on facelift were negligible anyway. Send me a message and I'll be happy to help you look for a car. As for what you can expect for 3k.. I would say cars around 100k miles. Don't be put off the mileage as these cars are good for 300k with regular maintenance that involves just fresh oil every 5000 miles. I would look for cars with a good service history. I wouldn't be bothered about bodywork as much because panels are cheap. They are easy to work on. Here's mine.

  21. Looking at the online configurator for the NX I see that they have added Sonic copper to the range and also the addition of another seat colour option on certain ones. Can anybody spot what other changes have been made?
