Denso Oxygen Sensor - Something Interesting

Recommended Posts

The dreaded vcs light came on after 2 days of lexus ownership (is250 sel auto, 07 plate, 63k miles), after panicking and searching the forum.

I bought an obd reader and hooked it up (code p2195) with some great advice from is250 newbie I ordered a new front oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1.

But heres where it gets interesting. I didn't want to wait so I ordered it from a UK supplier (http://www.importcarparts.co.uk) with express delivery for around £93. When I received it this morning, as per the forums the code was not 234-9051 it was dox-0263. The part looks like the right one but the number is different.

I was confused so i called the company they said all the UK denso sensor it must have a dox code to be official.

I then called denso UK and gave them both numbers. They only recognised the dox-0263 number (not the other one) and told me not to worry as that part number is an OEM.

I thought I would get everyone's thoughts and views in this.

Providing it's an OEM replacement I wouldn't be unduly concerned, hopefully it should sort your problem.

I take it the correct plug is fitted?

The biggest failure I think is the heater going, usually the 2 same colour wires which can be confirmed by measuring the resistance.

It may be a UK part number - if I am correct in saying, these are US supplied only from Denso - if you go on their site or a distributors site then 234-9051 is a Denso OE part.

The supplier should have however recognised the part number unless they don't want to reveal it to save people going direct to the supplier for these...?

If you are unsure ask the garage that's fitting it to check the connection to the loom for compatibility. It should be a 5 to 10 min job for them to change this sensor out.

DOX part numbers are used by Denso Europe. 234-9051 is an american Denso part number.

Looks like Denso have finally started distributing this sensor in Europe now, hence the DOX number, so owners don't have to import them from the US, either directly or through a distributor.
