Self-centring steering

I am a new member and this is my first post.

I have just bought my new is 200 se auto,I previously had a toyota avensis.

I notice that the lexus does not return to centre steering position after turning--is this normal?

I have to centre the steering manually.

It is not normal, take it back to the dealer. There may be a problem with the tracking or the camber angle, either of which can affect the steering geometry and self centering.

Mine doesn't return to centre either, you have to help it a bit. I thought it was maybe just the 18's "tramlining" a bit. It straightens a bit after a corner, just not all the way:?:

Hiya backache - welcome to TL.

Don't forget that you're driving a rear-wheel drive now (the IS is a rear wheel drive isn't it??) - it's all gonna feel a little different until you get used to it.

Agree with Rodders totally. Car felt odd at the beginning, didn't like the steering too much, thought that it didn't have weight or feel. Now very used to it, love it! Believe me it self-centres when u punt it sideways! Saved me on an occation!
