Lexus Isf Silver

Recommended Posts

Hi, calling on the knowledge of this forum to get an opinion of the Lexus ISF recently listed on Autotrader, just below £17k. I went to look at it on Saturday and am seriously considering. It was a pretty tidy car, full service history (all Lexus apart from 1 stamp), the dealer was very helpful/genuine. My only concerns are 104,000 miles and 6 previous owners. Any opinions/experience of this car would be much appreciate to help me reach a decision........

Feel free to post up the link, I promise I won't nip in and buy it :)

With a near FLSH I wouldn't worry about the mileage with these engines, bit high on owner changes though perhaps all the previous owners needed to upgrade to supercars after driving the ISF.

If you want to keep it a while then go for it but buy it knowing that many owners and high mileage will limit your options come resale. Mine was immaculate, had 2 years Lexus warranty and 60k mikes and sold for 18,500 so I wouldn't pay more than 16k for that one if its a 08/09 car.

Thanks for the replies, I hope to keep the car for many years but............ things can change owning a super saloon and having a young family! My fear......in a year or two I could be trying to sell a 120,000 mile car with 7 previous owners. Does anyone have any knowledge of the very high mileage ISF's still going strong?

Yes I do agree Stuart, I appreciate that nowadays (and especially with an Lexus/ISF) 100,000 is not so bad but I would feel more comfortable buying with <70,000, knowing that when I come to sell in a few years time, I will be selling with <100,000. I hope more become available in the next few weeks. After seeing this ISF I very much have the bug to buy, I see some mention of an ISF in Guernsey but I cant find it online??!?

Couple of comments to those looking at the ISF:

1) It looks even better in the flesh.

2) In my opinion the suspension is totally acceptable (considering the performance/handling).

3) The noise of the engine on start up and rev is magical.

Concur with Stu. The car will I'm sure be just fine but people will always get hung up on mileage. All I would say is have a look at some of the classic Fords that come up for sale. Many now have serious mileage on cars that weren't exactly synonymous with reliability, yet they command serious £££ because of their rare classic status.

In danger of repeating myself again but I really think the ISF will go that way being the first F car (LFA doesn't count!) and one that is consummately reliable.

Gib,

It looks like you were lucky as Emjay is just round the corner from me!

My only concern about that one, is that the same dealer puts it up for sale a couple of times a year. I always got the impression that it might be the dealers daily driver but that might not be a bad thing. I wouldn't worry in the slightest about the mileage. It will need another major 60k service in 15k miles.

The black ISF with 49k in Keighley is a pretty clean car aside from the black wheels. Drives fine but the Battery will need changing as the trader has to jump start it when I went to view it a few weeks ago. He refused to budge on the price though and a google search for the trader revealed some interesting results which is why I decided to look elsewhere.

I think I will be patient over the next couple of months in the hope that a couple of good examples come up in my price range. Some owners might think that Winter is a bad time to sell a car like the ISF and will try in the spring. I don't like the look of the black one and that Google search on the dealer doesn't install confidence. My preference on colour is silver, blue or white.

The mileage is irrelevant to me, they are great cars, there was, not sure if it's still there, a grey one in Newcastle area, think it's a one owner with 60k ish mileage, has full history, some with an Indy, "westfields " who are Lexus specialist, they are excellent, and that wouldn't worry me at all, they have looked after all my lexus's in the past. Think that was 19k, mine has 3 previous owners, previous to me only a year, think a lot of people have the "always wanted one"......me too, but I don't want to part with mine EVER, good luck with your demons

The beautiful silver Lexus ISF being referred to in this post is mine. I bought the car from Oxford Specialist Car's a while back. They have bought and sold the car a few times now (no its not the dealers personal car) and gained loyal customers through the process as anyone who bought it off them had zero issues with it and sold it back to them when moving on to a C63 or RCF. I have asked them to sell the car on my behalf as I just don't have the time at the moment. I love this car and its easily the best IS-F I viewed... I went to see lower mileage ISF's and they drove and felt exactly the same as this 100k one so I saved ££££'s and went for it! Good thing about Oxford Specialist Car's selling this car a few times is that they really know the car's history so I got a real insight into the type of owners its had and how its been driven, looked after etc.

It's had the water pump sorted and it was serviced not too long ago at Lexus. After I bought it I even had a independent check done on it and a fresh MOT which confirmed that it was a solid car with no issues.

Why am I selling it??

I've decided to buy a Lexus RCF and although driving both cars back to back in the real world there's not a lot of difference in performance I just like the look of the RCF! If you have any questions about the ISF you can PM me on here or get in contact with Huw at Oxford Specialist Car's who knows more about the car then me.

Hi Zahir, welcome to the forum.

Which RC-Fs are you looking at,  or have you taken the plunge already? We need some more RC-F owners on the forum

Been for a test drive in the Carbon Edition one...and really liked it. Want to move the ISF on first though before committing as it makes more financial sense. The problem with these Lexus is that they're so good it removes the sense of urgency you normally have when wanting another car! I just had a look at a review on the new Focus RS and having owned the previous one I'm now thinking about getting one of those! Yes I know it's a Ford and tbh the build quality on the ISF with a 100k on it feels better than my Focus RS when it was new!
