but the difference between you and me( even when i was a moderator) is that i wasnt rude and had tact on subjects such as this- with one recent exception  now dont take this the wrong way but you are well known for not having the greatest tact.

but honestly if other members think i have displayed a lack of people skills within my posts then ill retract the above statement.

Not only were you rude to me (in my opinion), but you also formed an opinion of me based on hearsay (not on your own experience) and incorrect information given to you by someone that has a grudge against me. You were also not even decent enough to check your facts or appologise. Get your own life in order before you criticise others.

come on guys - you have all been here long enough to know that we try and keep things nice and polite around here.

lets take it to email or pm's please if you want to continue this?

Mainly cosmetics really but i'm no expert on the RS marque.different front bumper

extra rear spoiler and if you send of the log book you get a nice plaque to go on the dashboard that lists your no off the production line.

Oh and of course there more expensive

Oi........Daz what else is it ?

The differences that the RS500 had over the 'normal' 3 door cosworth are;

Cosmetic changes...

1. A little cut out at the top of the front bumper to allow better airflow to the intercooler

2. A splitter on the bottom of the Front Bumper

3. An extra lower spoiler just below the Whale-Tail

4. A little "lip" on the Whale-Tail itself

5. Mesh grilles where the front Fog lights are on a normal 3 door to aid cooling for the brakes

Engine changes

1. A MASSIVE Intercooler

2. T4 Turbo, which is capable of 500bhp!

3. An extra 4 injectors (totaling 8, but Ford didn't run them on the road cars, they were just there if you wanted to hook them up!)

4. A stronger engine block to cope with the extra power

And I THINK it had different engine management...don't quote me on that though...i'm not entirely sure!

Oh, and if you wanted to, as an extra you could have the build number on a Gold plaque in between the Electric Window Switches and a "Tickford" badge on either side of the car on the front wings.

Tickford was the company that assembled all 500 cars.

Only 496 were sold to the public...the other 4 were prototypes.

They came in 3 colours. Moonstone Blue, Black and White. With Moonstone Blue being the rarest colour!

Am I sad, or what!!

Not read the whole of this thread as I'v just come onto it, but thought I'd mention that I sold an MA Developments tuned Stage 3 (almost 4 :)) L '93 Polaris Grey Escort Cosworth Lux with 360bhp to buy the Lexus (IS200).

If it's pointless Ford facts you want (RS/cosworth specific) then I'm your man :)

Like I say, I haven't read the whole thread so don't know where the conversation really stands at the moment, but just to say that I loved the Escort Cosworth, but I don't miss it breaking, the costs, and the insurance (I paid £4500 to insure it for ONE year!)

Brings back memories though.....

this was my car....

I thought I recognised your name!!

What made you sell the Escort Tony? I take it that it was the insurance costs! But you was only about 19/20 when you owned it wasn't you? No wonder it was so high!!

And how come you decided on the IS? I like them as I drive my old man's from time to time but I couldn't own one. They're too refined and new for me, I like an older car!!

Any plans for the IS?

Yup - it was high because I bought the car when I was 19. Paid 4/5k the first yr, 2.5k the second, and 2.5k the third yr i owned it.

I loved the car, but you can only really have it for so long. 3 yrs I owned it, had a great time, track days, shows, did everything, and the time came to move on. Also, it slightly depicted the wrong image.....too "boy racery", although that is of course just my opinion.

In the end, the costs became too much to justify for a car that I did 4-5 thousand miles a yr in (in 3yrs I did 12k miles).

Bought the Lexus because I wanted all the things the Escort didn't have.....economy, luxury, reliability etc. etc. I miss the speed etc (as I think I said above) but don't miss the problems or worries.

Very pleased that I've owned both cars (they are completely different afterall), and have no regrets about owning either. :driving:

I know what you mean mate about trying to get away from the breaking down and all the costs etc. I had two Escort Turbo's before that I had no end of trouble with so I bought a 2ltr Focus to try and have a break from all of that. But it just wasn't me...I didn't feel right owning a car that I didn't really love. So I bought the Sierra and I'm now as happy as larry!

Err ... and you can go how fast on UK roads ???

Lexus parts are expensive - the car cost over £40k new !!! Of course Ford and Lexus aren't even in the same league nor were they pitched at the same 'class' of buyer ... that's like comparing a Bentley to a top of the range Hyundai ...

If you like speed etc. get a fast car - if you like refinement/luxury and the prestige of owning a motor vehicle then get a Lex and stop this 'my car is faster than your car' malarchy

Its worth remembering that Toyota is infamous for entering racing competitions and wiping the board with wins (e.g. Le Mans), infact, that was the primary reason they entered F1..

Of course, they are learning it isnt as easy up there..

Well Toyota will NEVER win F1,they may win the odd race but never the Championship.

And the GT40 kicked Ferraris *** in the Le-Mans,no in fact made them look stupid second rate racers,5 years on the trot(i think)

Steve,....never said Toyota didn't win anything, just not as much as Ford.

Still say that Toyota were thrown out of WRC for turbo irregularities though.

:P

You may be wrong there. I can see them winning in 5 years time if they are still in it. They have the biggest budget and already have one of the best engines.

They were banned for a year for irregularities. I think Toyota decided to stay out for a futher year. Toyota won the WRC three times, twice with a Celica and once with the Corolla.
