Yeah go on Google and type in lexus rx 300 transmission problems, it's an epidemic, they are even talking class action suit against lexus..

Epidemic? Wow. Never heard of this! Perhaps isolated to 1st gen and then only a few?

It seems US owners had more issues than UK drivers with the transmission.

Oddly the UK cars came with beefier ATF cooling installed (what the yanks got if they bought the 'towing pack' upgrade from dealers).

I've been on this forum for 2+ years and can't remember the last post from anyone reporting a catastrophic autobox failure on the RX300/RX350.

Now same vintage BMW X5 owners with ZF autoboxes, THAT'S a whole different story! Guaranteed to fail.

Seems primarily related to the MK1 and in the US. Can't say I remember reading anything much about transmission issues in our Forum... and certainly nothing that would suggest an epidemic.
