NX300h courtesy car

Recommended Posts

Took my RX into Lexus Leeds on Thursday for them to sort out a small rattle/vibration in the drivers door and they loaned me a base model NX300h. Well that certainly validated my decision (aided by Rayaans) to go with the RX. Whilst the NX is nice its not a patch on the RX. It felt a bit like my IS300h to drive, higher obvioulsy but more road noise, a lot more road noise, and not quite as smooth. In fact compared the the RX, and IS for that matter, the road noise started to get a bit annoying. Maybe it was the Yokohama Blue Earth tyres?  Jittery ride too as mentioned before and experienced by others. It also seemed very small/compact inside and to drive The strange thing was that it felt quicker than the RX but that was an illusion, I think down to it being that bit noisier as when I got back in the RX I could tell that was quicker but because its so quiet you are going faster than the noise suggests. Fuel consumption also about the same as my RX whilst being driven in the same way (Driving Miss Daisy now I am old and tight with money LOL)

For now the rattle is gone and so I am very happy and was glad to return the NX although if the NX was as quiet as the RX I cold definitely live with one but would have to go with the Premier

The NX is a great car but IMHO not a patch on the RX, apologies to NX owners and I have not meant to offend

I agree with your observations Chris.

The NX is nice but not as nice as the RX which is to be expected really. I believe the tyres are to blame for the road noise though - the Yokohama Blue earth are crap!

I do feel like Lexus just decided to build it for the sales rather than focus on it being as good as the MK1 RX was back in the day which is what it should have been doing.

I would expect a lot of improvements for the next generation expected in 3/4 years time

I wholeheartedly agree on the MK1 RX, I had one and it was superb. The MK2 that I replaced it with was better I think and I still regret getting rid of it and dropping to a CT200 to save money on fuel when I lost my personal petrol allowance. Hindsight is a wonderful thing
