Rear Wiper Motor

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

On Thursday my rear wiper was moving slower than usual and making a screeching noise, today the arm stopped half way through the first upward sweep and will not move.  It's been working fine all through the winter months.

Do you reckon this is the wiper motor that's gone?

Thanks

Mine seized up without any prior warning. I found that the spindle was seized due to lack of lubrication and corrosion.  I managed to free it off with WD40 and oil plus a liberal amount of grease. No further problems since.

You won’t know for sure until you pull the trim but it does sound seized, there are no external moving pieces/ linkages as it is all contained within the motor drive unit. You could strip the drive unit down or as a start remove the arm off the spindle and dose the shaft with WD40.

New ones are listed around £200.00 so a good used replacement would be the option if all else fails.

Thanks for the response, I got quoted £104 for replacement from a car breaker specialising in Lexus cars.  Waiting to hear from my mechanic to see if he want to have a go at stripping it down to have a look.  Will keep you informed of any progress
