I'm sure it could physically  be installed but there would be a huge amount of work involved, never mind how you would then reprogram the car's systems to account for the increased capacity

Does anyone know if there is a way to install a larger capacity EV battery?

This is the only company I've heard of doing it, but not sure how successful it is with newer hybrids and I don't think it will ever pay for itself unless you do some high mileage. Plus you compromise boot space.

My IS 300h, according to the computer, burns about 5l / 100 km with very gentle driving in good conditions, with a gentle 6.5 l / 100 km, with a normal 8.5 l / 100 km, with a fast 10 l / 100 km. Apparently the computer's indications are underestimated.

Interesting. Would be curious how much it costs, parts and labour. Hard to fathom it's competitive with industrialized car manufacturing. I would not consider a Li-ion upgrade though to displace NiMh. Probably LFP chemistry, but Na-ion ideally.
