That is the point. And funny enough, your car is probably less of a risk to public than trashed out Peugeot with 4 different tyres, two of which are so underinflated that they make screeching noise. But it will never be stopped because it drives 5 miles below the speed limit... and that is considered "safe" in this country.

Well yeah that's the thing. Us enthusiasts like to keep the car in a good shape and make it better and sometimes even safer. I'm not far from putting GS450h brakes on, so that's my safety upgrade... the insurance should be cheaper technically 😉

yeah wishful thinking. It is MOD! You are danger to the public... well or at least convenient cash cow! Insurance in UK is outright criminal.

Yes very Intriguing how a car one year passes faultlessly then 1 year later its scrapped for being dangerously rusty. Dodgy MOT last year? Who knows. Definitely thick owner lol who hardly got the car serviced. And you'd think a garage that puts a new clutch in would notice severe rust on suspension top mounts yes? Obviously not. He actually went to a different test station and they put down more fail points than the first tester! Wirk that one out. So it does seem there are still bent MOT centres. I dont know how they get around having the car plugged in for an hour (that's how long the test should take and the powers that be are taped in to every test live).

As for steerers (their not drivers) who don't know where windscreen wash goes etc is a farce. I was in the understanding that within the theory tests before the driving test involved basic maintenance. If not it ruddy well should be.

Nothing in the theory about any of that. The examiner can ask you about silly things like "Show me how you turn on the fog lights" but absolutely nothing about maintenance.
