2000 Es300h wheel query

Hi all,

This is my first post after my first week of Lexus ownership. I have to say that I love the car and am amazed at the comfort, economy and performance - slow it ain’t. Unfortunately, I have managed to kerb one of the alloys (in first week!!!) so I am looking to get it repaired. I’m also looking to get a full size spare wheel as I’ve only got the factory puncture repair kit. If I can get a reasonably priced new or good second hand wheel, I could maybe relegate the scuffed on as a spare and fit the replacement in its place. So I have a couple of questions.

is it possible to buy a new replacement allow wheel? I’ve looked online and can’t see any for the es300h.

does anyone know of a good second hand one for sale? I’ve seen one on eBay but it looks more scuffed than mine

is the standard alloy diamond cut as I understand that would affect the options for repair.

Feel your pain having scuffed a wheel so soon into ownership.

Your wheels definitely look diamond cut and by the looks of it will/should need re-cutting provided there is no welding required to build up the alloy my guess is around the £100-£120 ish mark only problem is you'd need to leave your car on an axle stand as you've no spare to put on temporarily whilst wheel is away.

If you look for Roadhero on the Internet they do spacesaver kits to suit most vehicle wheel sizes plus if you get intouch with Carnoisseur (their agent/partner) they are superb at customer service and advice. I speak personally as they sourced a new 19inch space saver bespoke to my GS F.

I had my GS 300h wheel refurbed last year similar to your damage but then I did have alloy insurance, wheel was collected and returned  good as new.

Maybe those on the forum in your neck of the woods could recommend a good wheel refurbishment business.

You can purchase replacements wheels from Lexus. Part code is either 42611-33D70 or 42611-33D90 (check with your dealer to confirm the correct one) but they won't be cheap.

Thanks for your sound advice, guys. Had a quote of £100 for a full refurb of my wheel which seems reasonable but I think I’ll wait a while before getting it done while I get used to the size a bit more. Looks like I can get a new alloy for around £507.00 which is not cheap but if I offset the cost of the alloy repair (will still make a good spare unrefurbished) and the cost of a space saver wheel, it looks more reasonable. Again I’m still looking for a good secondhand wheel but new could well be an option if I can’t find one.

With regards to performance, this car replaces our much loved Citroen c6 which had the 2.7 hdi biturbo diesel. Acceleration seems better than the  c6 and the ride quality is very good indeed but not as good as the citroen. Considering that the citroen had the final version of the hydraulic suspension,with damping computer tuned 100 times per second,I suppose I’m not really surprised. I still can’t believe the economy (high 50s) and find  it odd not to have a new fault message every time I turn it on!

No and it doesn’t include the tpmv valve unit either. I was thinking of fitting the tyre and valve from my scratched wheel onto the new wheel and putting a budget range tyre and standard valve onto my scratched “spare” wheel

Bought wheel for £507 from Lexus spares, had local tyre specialist transfer the tyre and tpms to the new wheel and fit a new budget tyre on the scratched wheel for £80 all in. Bought and fitted Toyota clamp for the spare wheel for £8. Made a support for the centre of the floor out of a cut down plastic bucket and a layer of acoustic felt that I had lying around. Not the cheapest solution but I now have a full size spare hidden safely under the boot floor. (The jack, wheel-brace and towing eye are now in a  plastic box in the boot and take up very little space).
