Retrofit Navigation specialist for Android Auto/Car Play with NX 300H (2017)

Recommended Posts

Dear everyone,

I thought I would reach out to this community and check if you know any specialist in London or near London who would be willing to attend at my home address and install an upgrade with Android Auto/Car Play (wireless preferably) to our NX 300h (luxury 2017) It has the small screen with Navigation but having the Android Auto would be ideal as I have it on my ES300h and it is simply brilliant...

Hoping you can assist with some good recommendations!

Thanks!

I have done lots of research and it seems that 1 - hardly anyone does the retrofit due to inconsistent quality with the subsitute sat nav offered on the market (mainly eBay, and AliExpress) 2 - installing a retrofit will void Lexus Warranty from what I understand... It is a shame that this simple need cannot be done without risking quality and warranty...

Hi everyone,

I have found a website (Korean) that seems to specialise building Android Auto/Apple CarPlay sat nav for a good number of Lexus cars. I have not tried the product but will be checking further before potentially buying this.

Here is the product: https://www.lexionautomotive.com/product-page/lexion-a10-lxs-nx

Their YouTube video how this is installed:

Yes, but only for the infotainment system, not the whole car, just like messing with shock absorbers wouldn't affect the warranty on the engine.

Thanks for confirming this. It makes perfect sense to me.

By the way, I just ordered this Lexion infotainment system so will let you know what it is like once it is installed. I have been watching quite a lot of videos about disassembling the parts in the vehicle and I think I may be able to do this myself. Will keep you updated if you are interested how the system is... It is probably a daring move but worth a try! It comes with a 10.25 inch touch screen and the system will still work with the OEM set up navigation.

Details of this product for our NX300h (2017) model with knob pad:

LEXION A10-LXS(NX)

It claims to be better than eBay and Aliexpress as it has faster and better quality processor with good amount of RAM. This video was made 2 years ago but worth checking out I think - as it is what made me buy this product overall as their website seems to be specialised just for Lexus cars... https://www.lexionautomotive.com

I got a Grom Vline2 for my RX so it'll be interesting to see what you make of the Lexion.

Thanks. I checked this one too but it appears to be keeping the screen as is with the existing model. The Lexion provides you with a touch screen and a wider one too... I will let you know what I think of this model for sure.

By the way, did you do the job yourself?  Just curious!

Yes I did and it was quite straightforward. If I didn't need to extend the wiring harness I reckon it could have been done within an hour.

Thank you! I am getting ready to do this myself too! I reckon this parcel will arrive mid Jan 23 and I will have to find the right time to get this job done without being disturbed by any of my family members...

Just been informed from Lexion Automotive that my product has the wireless AA integrated in the main box so Android Auto will be wireless. apple car play is also wireless. It comes with a 2 year warranty and the product will be set up in English as default for me... So far so good! Will keep you updated.

Hello everyone,

I am pleased to share some updates with the new Lexion sat nav. It is now fitted and it works beautifully! Really happy with the product and everything was installed easily and with the help of Lexion engineer via whatsapp, he made the whole process quite easy whenever I was getting stuck. It is not difficult to do but you have to take your time and plan well your day, which is what I just did today. The result is outstanding and android Auto wireless is on smoothly and without any issues whatsoever and the main Lexus factory set up system is also accessible too. It is worth mentioning that there is no extra box to fit in inside but the main screen has all the processors and components to get the wireless apple car play and Android Auto working. The system can be also updated via Bluetooth cable that I fitted inside the glove box and there add a second cable for SIM card if you want your car to have WIFI. But for our needs, if we need the wifi I active the HOT SPOT wifi on my phone and I can access wifi. you can use Youtube too for anyone interested. On our Android Auto, we have all the same functionalities that anyone would get with this connection. It is well worth it in my opinion. My wife is super happy now.

Really pleased! Here are some photos for your eyes!

Looks great! What was the cost and how long did the install take ?

Thanks the cost was £779 after Dollar conversion. It included delivery and They made sure that the device was just right for my car so all cables were suited for the model (and made sure it was also all in English as default) and they fitted the AA wireless inside the monitor so I never have to plug in to get Android Auto or apple Car Play. It is a bit pricey but I wanted to be sure I get a good quality model and I was confident that they only do navigation for every Lexus model. The monitor is great and really upscale the interior in my opinion.

The overall installation took me around 2 hours. I had to stop in the middle to do school pick up but I was half way there when I stopped with all the new system plug in and working smoothly. The second part was to put all the bits back (Easy) and then to play with the system and try all options... Everything is as it says, so really happy!

As a total klutz, I'm always in awe of people who can do this kind of thing.  Finished result looks great - nice job!

Thanks! It was quite easy to do to be fair. I was surprised and I think I could re-do the same all over again.

By the way, this is the intro when the system switches on... I forgot to show it earlier! it takes about 15-20 seconds to fully get ready and the android auto comes on automatically. I press menu button for 2 seconds to get the Lexus system and again 2 seconds to go back to new system. Really cool and easy to use.

Hi, impressed the way this system works, I was wondering about phone calls made on this. I had fitted for different car after market unit and phone calls made through Bluetooth in the car was terrible. People couldn't hear and very weak. Did you try this? Also steering wheel buttons work fine with this. Thank you

A little late to the party, but I'm also about to install my own aftermarket carplay unit to my 2016 NX300h.  To keep costs down I decided to fit it myself and will keep the factory (7") screen, but will be adding wireless apple carplay and Android auto.

I'll let you know how I get on.. good, bad or otherwise!
