Newbie to Lexus grateful for advice

Recommended Posts

Seasons greetings to all. A newbie {OAP]Lexus owner so please be gentle and apologies in advance if very basis questions, as without manuals etc I am unable to get the info.

Just today ordered a two month old NX450 F Sport with Takumi pack.....pick up next month when convenient.

[1] My current [range anxiety!!]car is a pure EV and have been using my home 7.5 Kw wall charger[OHME]on a type C plug with excellent service along with various size public chargers when needed so........ On any longish trips can I still use a public charger at  7.... to say 50 kw ? Does the Lexus limit the take to a max of 7 kw ? Or can it take more to speed up the charge time?

[2] I will of course try and take in the dealers help and instruction on pick up ...... but..... Do I need to take  any special additional attention to the Infotainment centre in relation to setting up my mobile phone, Sat Nav, and Lexus mobile app etc....anybody had any tech problems in this area since pick up, as I am NOT too tech savvy ! and it is not a local dealer. I am an Android user.

[3] How do you rate the Sat Nav interface for directions and general info. Is the Sat Nav directions shown on the HUD easy to see and follow? Does it show charging points en route.

Any further advice on similar areas I need to check on pick up day would be gratefully appreciated

Looking forward to joining and learning from your team and my best wishes for 2023

Welcome to the Lexus owners club and Festive Greetings to you. You have a ordered a fantastic car and I wish you happy motoring when you get it.

1 Lexus has a limit of 7Kw as far as I am aware.

2. Infotainment system is relatively straightforward but I am sure the dealer will pair your phone. The Lexus Link app isn't the best however and as far as I am concerned the disappointing feature of the car. Make sure the latest software update has been done.

3. I actually find the Lexus navigation OK and clearly displayed on the HUD etc. Don't think it shows charging points however. Others will promote Android Auto but whilst it is superior I only use the Lexus system.

There is much to learn on the day so just take time to become familiar with the basics. It's then a case of self teaching of the more advanced features. It will soon become crystal clear!

Welcome, I have the exact same model, it’s a fine car.

To answer your questions

1. The car limits the charge to 7kwh. My home charger is capable of up to 23kwh so any en-route chargers which use the same cable connection will be ok. Be aware though that a full charge will take approx 2.5 hours

2. The infotainment is ok but it’s logic is at times illogical 😉

3. The SatNav isn’t great in my opinion, I find that it can pick some strange routes at times and traffic info is a bit late. I tend to use google maps which gives consistently good routes and is good with traffic updates and re routing
