Lost only key!

Hi, posting for any information if you good people have any. I lost my only key to my lexus parked at Glasgow Airport Short Stay when I returned from holiday two days ago. Lexus want to get a crane to lift it from top floor open air part of car park and make new key! Quoting me over four thousand. I was only ever given one key, can't understand why they can't make me a new key, even if it takes a week or two. Any other auto locksmiths I've called are not very hopeful they can do anything. So shocked this is what it's costing and why they have no other means of ordering me a new key.

find a good professional car thief to get into it and drive it away to your preferred parking lot somewhere and go from there with sorting out replacement keys !

Get 2 at least !

You would be happy paying 2 weeks short stay parking charges????

Another wind-up ...

Wow, thanks for all your help! I'm posting this on behalf of my dad who is 80 and yes, he absolutely was happy to pay for two weeks short stay. I booked it in advance, it was £124 and suits him as he and mum are older and had golf clubs and cases. He's a creature of habit and just likes that car park as it's right opposite the terminal.

But you do you.

Ah I see you mean two weeks short stay if that's how long to make new key? Yes, he would because it would still be a lot less than Four Thousand pounds plus to lift the car from the rooftop car park and tow it that they quoted!

If you have the key code (normally written at the front of the service history book) then you can get a new key made which would allow you to open the car and turn on the ignition (removing steering lock) so you can get it towed out of the car park. Programming a new key to turn off the immobiliser is more difficult without another master key to put the ECU into programming mode - you may need a new ECU.

Obviously a bit late for the OP but for anyone else, if you only have one key then get another master cut and programmed before you lose it! Don't buy a used car that only has one, insist that another is provided as part of the sale.
