Inner Tyre Excessive Wear On Rear Tyres

Recommended Posts

I have serious excessive wear on the rear tyres.. I have had the car tracking done 9 months ago using the latest machine.. but they are so badly worn I am starting to wonder.

The Car failed the MOT on these.

what can cause this excessive wear??

you say "tracking" was that four wheel or full geometry? if geometry do you have a print out that you can display?

Steve

Mine did just that a while ago. Had some soft compound Hankooks on the rear, got less than 10,000 miles out of them. I find the rear tyres are very difficult to keep an eye on and mine were virtually bald.

Replaced them with some harder Dulop SP1000's and no problems yet after nearly 10,000 miles.

I was told by my tyre fitter that the wear on the inside of the tread was due to the width of the tyre and excessive speed when cornering.....may be I need to get the geometry at the rear sorted too!
