IMPORTANT SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR ORIGIN b2

***************************************

Dear Customer

Last week we informed you that we are about to

release an important upgrade to the Origin Update

utility, to accommodate some changes being implemented

by some ISPs (Internet Service Providers).

We are pleased to announce that the new upgrade is

now available for download.

DO I HAVE TO UPGRADE?

Yes, after 17th January all Origin b2 users downloading

via a PC will need to have the new software installed.

WHAT IF I USE A MODEM TO UPDATE MY UNIT?

If you use the modem supplied with the unit instead of a PC

you are not affected by this upgrade you DO NOT need to do

anything. Please continue as usual. However, if in future

you want to update via a PC then you will need to download

and install the new software first.

CAN I USE THIS SOFTWARE ON A MAC?

No, the software is Microsoft Windows compatible only.

(However, Mac software will be arriving soon.)

HOW DO I DOWNLOAD THE NEW SOFTWARE?

The new upgrade is now available for download via the

members' section of origin b2 web site at:

http://www.originb2.com/memberslogin.cfm

When you have logged into the member's area please click

'software updates' on the left-hand menu and download

the file 'b2-setup'. This file will be in .zip format.

Once downloaded, extract the .zip file and run the

'b2update_setup' file.

Once the file has run you will be prompted to 'Modify,

Repair, Remove', select the option for 'modify',

continue until the 'finish' button is displayed,

then select 'finish'.

Your Origin b2 will then be ready to update.

Many Thanks

Customer Services

Mine still updates OK - did the software upgrade thing a while back too.

Oops - guess you didn't want to hear that :hehe:

They were really good when my unit was taking ages to lock-on so hopefully they will sort your problem out speedily too ...

A bit :offtopic: I know, but what was causing your unit to take a long time to acquire satellites? Mine is very slow sometimes too.

Pete, like the guys say, this could be a firewall issue, but as a matter of interest Pete did you install any mobile phone replication software lately?

I installed the Nokia Data Suite on my laptop and it locks the COM ports whilst loaded (which is crap coding) and you have to terminate it before the Origin can connect to the COM port to talk to the device.....
