Audi Question....

Before I start I've tried to convince this guy to buy a lex but he's not the brightest star in the sky..... :D

Anyway, my mate has a 1997 Audi A4 1.8 and he's trying to find out if he could bolt a turbo onto his engine from another audi 1.8 t engine. He's tried a couple of audi forums and got very little reply...obviously not as good as LOC

So could anyone offer a bit of advice if this could be done, if any other modifications would be needed, and know of anywhere in the North West that could do this type of work?

The amount that it would probably cost him, would he not be better off selling his 1.8 and buying a 1.8T?

I dare say its possible, but personally I would sell the A4 1.8, and buy a 1.8 turbo. Got to be a cheaper option hasn't it?

Even better.....Seat Leon Cupra R (same engine but £000's cheaper)

Get the ECU remapped, put an unrestricted zorst on it and it's good for 285 horse

Cupra R's are great cars, but I think that they would struggle to put that amount of power down through the front wheels. Mine can get a bit lively in the wet with 4wd. Great engine to mod though... 70bhp extra for £500 quid can't be bad!

He's just found out that it'll cost him 3K for a basic turbo or 5K for the full jobbie He was hopeing it'd be a bit cheaper than that.....it's definitely a no go for that price as he got the car cheap from a mate in the first place! :(
