yup I am lucky, my friend is giving me his old lexus in exchange for a jacuzzi (loooong story)

it is a '93 model and has done 310,000 miles (he is a computer rep and travels between scotland and london 2 - 3 times a week) I have driven the car it seems quiet and purrs along, doesnt seem to have the dashboard faults mentioned in your forums but has had the alternator replaced about 2 months ago as he was having problems with it

My questions are:-

1. what is the usual life expectancy of the engine before any trouble comes along

2. what is the usual costs involved in changing the timing belts

3. what are the usual problems I can expect with this car given the age and mileage

I love the drive and the comfort of the vehicle, the bodywork is 100% no rust, no stone chips etc... I just would like a rough idea of what I am taking on board before I take the plunge

I thought the record was 250,000 for an LS, maybe we have a new record breaker here? But looked after and serviced on time the engine should outlast all the other parts of the car.
