I had an Infinity Basslink...

...in the boot of my BMW 528 - was dead easy to fit, as it can use line or speaker level input and boosted the OEM headunit & speakers a treat

You can get them from £190ish

You could always strip one end of the RCA's and connect them to the outputs on the standard factory amp (behind glove box, left hand side). Then simply plug the other end into the aftermarket amp and hey presto!!!

It's a fiddly job but it is a cheap solution if you don't want to start getting too technical etc.

Could you explain this again please? Slowly..

What I understand: Plug an aftermarket amp into the OEM amp and connect it to the rear speakers?

Yeah man it will work!

The only reason there is a standard factory amp is because of the way the standard head unit works. The standard head unit doesn't actually give out any sound as such, it just sends the sound to the factory amp which in turn powers the speakers.

It works in the same way that an aftermarket head unit would except it would have a built in amp!

GAZ-MAN you are correct. There is no reason it shouldn't work as all the after market amp is doing is amplifying the sound in order to run a bigger amount of watts to the sub. :P
