A Question For Dr Bones...

I have a quick question for 'The Doctor'..

Tony, I am shortly to order a brand new GS300. Once I take delivery of my shiny new motor would you consider it wise/prudent/sensible to get the geometry checked by you or one of your 'trusted' centres?

The reason I ask is.... Have you come accross any brand new vehicles that have had geometry problems?

Just curious...

Thanks

The Ed.

Tony will say yes - he put in a thread somewhere about the random geo's on cars that all come out of the same factory.

From all I have heard, Tony is a magician so should see you right. I know the IS's are renowned for inside tyre wall wear because they are not set up properly in the factory.

Worth the initial wedge so you don't have to fork out on tyres after 2 months !

Tony will give you a proper answer though - I'm sure he'll be along shortly :)

If it was me I'd be tempted to get it done immediately after delivery by somewhere good and independent like one of Tony's trusted centres and if out of Lexus spec take them the bill. I'm sure that they'd complain about effectively paying for warranty work that has been done by a third party etc but worth a try.

Better still I wonder if you could make it a condition of purchase that they take it to one at their expense before you collect it?

I know I'm no substitute for Tony, but my car is nearly new, only a few months old and not a single kerbed wheel so no dodgy impacts, but my geometry was still out to a certain degree and will need putting right.

May pay you to at least have it checked, think thats about £25, if nothings out then all good :)

Sad to say 'yes' but there are in reality very few new cars with geometry problems, i see 0.1%, but because of my field they are the worst ever :crybaby:

The GS300 has a 'stable geometry' but i would always recomend a geo before you pay a penny, reason for this is geometry is 3D, any imperfections or disputes within the car 'cannot' be hidden ( very hard to do so )....

Realize this....

1: Geometry is 'not' coverd under warranty.

2: If the geometry is incorrect there is a 'time delay' between purchase and the tyre wear...... 'this is the problem'.
