Fuel Gauge

This happened the other day

i had just under 1/4 tank of fuel pulled in to a garage (big food chain sounds like hesco) filled the tank with 58L to make sure i got my 5p off a Litre

i paid the garage went back to the car turned the ignition on and the fuel gauge still showed 1/4 tank of fuel, i thought i have just paid £49.00 for fresh air, so i got out the car went back in to the garage and said i think there is a problem with the pump, after 10mins a manager from the store come over

and said have i got a problem with tha gauge in the car, i said no

so the nice manager said ok if you have filled it try and put some petrol in

and yes it took .59p he then laughed and said i think you will need to check your gauge, as i was driving back to work i got about 1/2 a mile from garage and the needle shot to full :duh:

yes and the cure to stop this happening again: instead of turning the key straight to start, stop for a few secs when the warning lights come on, the gauge will then go to full and then start the car.

I did the same a couple of months ago. It was the first time I'd tried ultimax. Got a an address to complain and everything...20 mins later the guage moved up. Made a fool outta me!!
