Manifold perhaps.

I know Fargo had NOS on his car, not sure if it was the 200 or 300. Think your still looking at around £600 for a decent kit and then £300-500 for a progressive controller.

what are the merits & downsides of fitting a NOS system??

merits - instant power for low cost

downside - having to re-fill the bottle

what other upgrades are required, if any? i thought NOS could only be used in the highest gear...or is that rubbish??? :tomato:

rubbish.......

normally full throttle, any gear ......not sure about reverse though

another downside is cost of filling bottles and limited short use

:lol: would be great if it went in reverse!!!

so what kinda bhp gains can u achieve from a NOS installation,,, i understand the gains are only temporary. - but i guess thats the benefit of a s/c etc.

You just get different jets depending how much extra you want. Believe they start at 25bhp and now go upto 175bhp but as you say just for short bursts. You can certainly tell when it kicks in, your thrust back into your seat.

If you were to go full throttle I think a 5lb tank would last about 40-60 seconds. Maybe wrong, perhaps Paul can confirm that as he did a fair bit of research when he had it.

The NOS was in his IS300, heres the link to his page Nitrous Project

Its not value for money IMO because as the guys have said it will become costly in the long run.

Get the car some forced induction then add NOS and have some fun.

Would have really liked the toyomoto s/c for the is200. Bigger s/c.

NOS!

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you find them, maybe you can ask , "THE A-TEAM"....... * * * *** (bulletholes)

Murdoch was a NOS specialist ...... :D

agreed, the s/c would be the better option, but needs a lot more saving of the dollars!!

but, saying that, is there a reliability issue with the s/c over the NOS install. in fargo's write up he mentions that NOS is the most reliable out the lot?!

hey whats the diffreance between .. a Dry shot of nos and a Wet shot of nos..

Dry - It gives only Nitrous into the intake manifold

Wet - It delivers Nitrous and the extra fuel

Hmmmm.....you fancy some laffin gas then Lee?

No realiablilty issues with the s/c.

fair enough. eventually, i hope, i wanna get round to some power mods.....but didn't wanna end up with problem after problem. obviously, the s/c is the most 'popular' serious power enhancement; but there's that age old question of whether u just put ya money towards a 300!? lets not get started on this topic coz its been covered extensively.....but the reliability was the one thing that i was interested about.

how does the fuel economy compare to standard???

In theory if you drive a the car as you did before the mod fuel economy should increase. Not always the case tho, coz after its done you just wanna take it the limit all the time. first 2 tanks after I had it done, it went down to 17mpg, now i'm used to it and don't need to rag it so much I can get about 26-28mpg.

might sound dumb, but why would the fuel economy increase....i thought it's be awful!!
