Lexus Dealers - Genuine Mistakes

Recommended Posts

I have had two instances this week where I have phoned up about ex-demo IS250 as advertised on www.lexus.co.uk where things weren't right:

1). Lexus Worcester - I phoned about a Lexus 250 SE auto with multimedia advertised at £26,850. They offered me a ridicoulously low price for mine part exchange so it wne no furhter. Today the car is advertised at £27,850 on the same website. Same registration.

2). Lexus Birmingham - I have just phoned about a Lexus 250 SE auto with multimedia advertised at £25,850. I mentioned the resistration and the salesman said it was his old car. Checked the spec. and it hasn't got multimedia as advertised. But they will throw in a Smart Nav just for this weekend.

Not impressed. Two cars, two phone calls and two adverts wrong / misleading or then amended.

So I won't be upgrading this weekend :(

Well they have both lost me as a potential customer by there mistakes. I have been a customer of Lexus Worcester for 3 years through thick and thin and was prepared to do a deal this weekned. This is after when I was going to but one in December they wanted all the money up front before I got the car - no way !!

  • 2 weeks later...

Found another one the weekend, I've been trying to buy a demo IS250 for nearly two weeks.

Lexus Cambridge - demonstrator for sale £26,995, registration in advert. I emailed twice and then called them to discuss. It's not avavilable until middel of June. They offered me a poor p/ex based on price last Saturday ( but this would go down ). Today the car is advertised at £28,495. Increase of £1500.

Also what's the point of advertising cars that have only just been registered ( to guage interest as they put it ) when you can't have it for up to 3monts ( some on lexus.co.uk aren't available until August ) and they don't fix their price - they increase it. But tell you that yours will depreciate?

I would that at the moment they think they have the upper hand.

If they gauge that you are going to change whatever then they will try it on. I think you have done the right thing.

ps: have you test driven a IS250 Auto yet ? If so , did you 'get on' with the "handbrake" ?

Kremmen I had an auto for 24 hours, it was dark when I picked it up and I had to back into service to ask where it was !! Not the best of designs and I drove a 1971 Mustang for 3 years with a funny "parking brake" :)

Baby Lexus my feelings are the same as yours having already rejected one Lexus with them. However the promised good deal isn't there to be seen and this time after I told the salesman I thought he was having a laugh ( having offered me £3500 less than at the end of December ) he said he'd go and check out with the Dealer Principal but didn't have the decency to phone me back. Don't they want to sell cars?

Steve : You rejected a Lexus at Worcester ?

And I thought I was the only one who had done that, so the salesman told me. Appparently "It never happens to them !" Now I know a little bit more. :tsktsk:

Interestingly, can you PM me the initials of the salesman, I'd be interested if it was the same one I dealt with.
