Why?

Recommended Posts

Just some random musings... some of which are oldies and well known, others I've come up with myself..

- Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

- Why do they put braille dots on the keypad of a drive-through ATM machine in the states?

- Why do the wash-basins in the public toilets of motorway services have BOILING hot water and FREEZING cold water, but rather than using mixer taps they use two separate taps for hot an cold and they're separated at least 10 inches apart?

- Why does the highways agency insist on doing major roadworks during rush hour, yet the rest of the time there's no sign of the workmen?

- Why does Milton Keynes have so many bleeding roundabouts causing residents unusual and uneven tyre wear on the front left tyre?

- Why do the "special offers" in Tescos usually apply to the smaller sized items resulting in 2x small ones (equivalent to one large one) turning out to be half the cost of the 1x large one? Surely it would make more sense to do it the other way around...

- Why do the GATSOs in the variable-speed-limit section of the M25 have such powerful flashes at night that when they take a picture of a speeding vehicle in the anti-clockwise carriageway it blinds everyone else for 2 miles along the clockwise stretch?

- Why do chav-mobiles have those silly blue neon lights under the body of their electric-pink-paint-jobbed vauxhaulls?

- Why can BT never get a circuit order right?

- Why did Thameslink last year reduce the number of rolling stock in peak hours when they were already overcrowded in the first place?

- Why do BBC local radio stations all transmit their traffic information at different times so that if you have TPS on your car stereo system, you can never actually listen to anything because it is constantly switching to the traffic information?

- Why do people seem to think that QoS/CoS configurations on a router will allow them to send 4 Mbps of data down a 2Mbps circuit and not have any problems?

- If the C programming language was written in C, how did it come into existence when it didn't yet exist?

- Why do Maryland State Highway Patrol officers wear dark sunglasses at night?

- Why does TinkyWinky have a masculine voice but carry a hand bag?

- Why do bats hang upside down?

- Why do women buy sofas that don't fit through the doorway and men buy new 80 inch plasma televisions for a postage-stamp flat ?

- Why do kitchen appliances always break down exactly 24 hours after the warranty has expired?

because it will take longer to complete the works ( also why they are nearly always in summer) and thus cost more - this ensure the budget is fully used up. If the budget is not fully used then the council will recieve less from the government the following year

Why is it, that when you are in a hurry, all traffic lights are red :duh:

and every body drives so slow its quicker to walk and if your not in a rush you seem to be the slow on and all lights are green and no traffic
