Being a user predominantley on th IS forum my friend owns a gs300.

He wants to know the feasibilty of a TT conversion due to the gs300 engine being the same minus the turbos.

Has anyone done this yet that you know of????

In addition does anyone know of anyone who has a supra engine for sale that can be used in the conversion as he can get the labour done for him.

Why not just buy an Aristo?? All the work's been already done :winky:

the engines are not the same minus the turbo, ie the gs is a GE block and the supra a GTE block.

but id say sell the gs and get an aristo, no need to import as there are many in the country already for sale, 2 recently on these very boaards..

can a TT conversion be done without an engine swap????

Hi,

Just so things are black and white...

The Aristo is a import version of the GS,same body shell, same car but the Aristo has the Supra Twin Turbo engine :)

Physically it will fit no problem. But you would also to swap the ECUs, the gearbox and the exhaust! There is no way you could convert the 2JZ lump to run the TT sequential turbo set-up as the internals are somewhat different (no oil spray bars on the piston undersides etc.). A better, cheaper bet would be a N/A-T conversion, fitting a single turbo and fuel ecu, bigger injectors (440cc) and a head gasket would see a healthy rise inpower, retain off-boost torque and be cheaper and easier than a full TT engine/gearbox swap :)

Only the V300 is the twin turbo. The standard Aristo is the same engine as the UK Lexus GS300.

Plus you have the V8 4X4 option aswell.

Although the early TT Aristo's don't seem to be badged as V300.

To the OP, why doesn't he want an import??? insurance??? A heavily modded GS, I imagine, will be alot more to insure than an import.
