Engine Squeak

 Share

Recommended Posts

By chance yesterday, I happened to get out of the car while the engine was still running, and noticed the engine was making a funny squeaky sound while idling. Can't hear anything from inside the car, but from the outside, it didn't sound too nice at all.

Is it likely to be something serious or just a squeak? And how quickly should I be getting it down to the dealers?

Thats probably the drive belt slipping on the power steering pump pulley because of the WD40

Thanks guys, not sure this is something I really want to mess about with - gotta go to the dealers for something else anyway so I'll get them to take a look. If its nothing serious, its no big deal :)

Ive got a squeek on the power steering pump, does your squeek change slightly when you wobble the steering. I sprayed some grease on the inside of the pully intowards the bearing, and it stopped for a week or so but then it came back. Ive got no leaks and the steering works so im not to worried about it.
