Zymol - Worth The Dosh?

Hi guys, I just wondered how many of you use Zymol products and what your opinions are? I love the stuff and have got a lot of people on my club to take the plunge and they all love it. I just wondered who use’s it on here as obviously the cars are worth loads more dosh in most case’s so im guessing more people shell out on decent detailing products.

I have to admit I am absolutely insane when it comes to car detailing and that. I should really get help.

Anyways I have one of these zymol concours kits (and most of the other stuff they sell)

Heres a few random pics of mine:

If anybody does use zymol regularly and shops at Vertar I have a 10% discount code I can PM you. I negotiated it as a perk for the members on my club but im sure Phil at Vertar wouldn’t mind.

Its quite good as all that stuff in the pro kit (concours kit) would cost around £370 individually, with that kit – 10% it comes out £270 and they are doing free delivery. You can get cheaper kits with “japon” wax which is specifically formulated for jap paintwork or the common crème / carbon wax’s for light and dark cars respectively.

BTW im in no way associated with any companies, just swear by the stuff and wanted to know the opinions of the people on here :)

I agree with you 100% DeanoC, Zymol products wipe the floor with all other manufacturers of wax and detailing products i've used including Meguiars.

I've just ordered a starter kit (smaller than the one in the photo) with the Japon wax from the US. Cost me $100 which is just over £50, less than half price to UK prices. Just needed a mate in the US to send it too me.

In the past I've used Ital wax on my previous car (Alfa) with stunning results and durability. If you're prepared to put in some elbow grease and time in preparation it has to be well worth the effort.

Your car cleaning collection looks very similar to mine, i have a whole kitchen cupboard dedicated to 'car cleaning' products.

Nice looking cars by the way................ :)

I have had a nose about detailingworld.co.uk maneesh, lots of information on there but i havent got involved with the forum.

I was always an Autoglym and Meguiars man but not anymore. I hate everything Meguiars makes, most of it is not actually what its labeled as and it all sythetic rubbish. Like the clay which is not a real lehm clay and thay package it with their detailing spray as a lube...... whats all that about!

I still use a few Autoglym products and cant really fault any of the range for basic detailing (apart from that crappy sythetic chamois).

It such a shame zymol decided to stop producing the sampler kits, i have used up my 4oz of atlantique and 4oz of destiny......... I dont really fancy paying over £1600 to get full size verions of each!!!!

Anyways glad you like the french cars, really thought i was going to get the sh!t ripped out of me when i joint up haha. Still on the hunt for my perfect IS and hopefully get some "show and shine" pics up soon :)

You lot do realise that there is another option available to you

It is called the 14 month rule

If any car isn't washed for 14 months, it never gets any dirtier

I was sceptical about this claim, but I did try it on my earlier cars and I can guarantee that it is 100% true

And the best thing is that no one parks near you at Tescos so your car doesnt get scratched,

The resale value of your car is at maximum when you come to sell it, all it needs is a triple wax car wash and the body is pristine as new as no one has ever touched the paint

Insurance costs can attract a discount as well, as a car in that state will never get stolen, car thieves like shiny cars to show off to their mates, and with a prestige make such as Lexus, I bet the steal to order boys never get asked go and find me a Lexus 460 or Merc S class covered in crap

Have to give that one a wurl ;)

No seriously I go cold turkey after 7 days.

I did do an experiment once to prove how good zymol destiny was. I left the car 1 whole month during the winter months after a 16 hour cleaning session. 3 coats of destiny.

I covered a good couple of thousand miles and it was caked in crap like you wouldnt believe. I only allowed myself a normal garden hose (with water softner attached) and a chamois to clean it.

The body work come up excellent with just the front wheels not looking there best.......... thats just a hose down and chamois after a month of winter driving!!!

Im sure it does work and I'd love to try it but I just couldn't bare seing any car that dirty.

Mate of mine does mortgage's and notice his client lived on same street asked if he knew me and he said no, I dont know anyone's name, my mate goes he's got a Lexus and the man said oh yeah he's the one obssed with cleaning his car!

I would LOL but im a little scared that I'm really really sad if thats how they all know me?

 .................

I don't believe that these products are this good maybe you should bring your products with the toothbrush to my house and prove it by cleaning my two cars (free of charge).

What do you think?

I agree the Klasse AIO is a great product and one that i thin kis very hard to beat without doing a full out 10 hour detail using a porter cable. With regards to zymol my opinion is that so many wax's such as P21s are so good now, that to even get something a little bit better is going to hit your pocket hard. In my opinion using the zymol destiny it is better but only a slightly better, but as mentioned earlier u have to pay the premium prices to get the ultimate finish.

I found the products very hard work and if you work to the Zymol system, the correct temerature has to be around 60 degrees to make the products apply to the paint.

Now how do we get it to do that in the UK!!!!

I found them very hard to work with, difficult to take off and they did not last long on the cars paint.

I found megs lasted longer, but swapped from megs to Zymol and wished I had not.

Then my Dad brought me some Mothers Carnauba Cleaner wax back fro the USA, this out performened the Concours from Zymol,

At present I use Mothers, Also use one or two other items like Poor Boys and Collinite

I found the Zymol to be quite easy to work with really, easier than some other waxes. I agree the HD Cleanse can be tricky but leaves great results. I use the Zymol Destiny wax which will last around 4-6 months which is very good for durability only matched by collinite i have found.

Mothers do some good products but i dont think they are in the same class as the Zymol and Swissol

i GUESS WE ALL HAVE AN OPINION.

I found Zymol to be very hard work, the waxes are very hard work.

Its states that the body has to be around 60 degrees if I remeber to get the polish to adhear to the paint ? So as its never that in the UK we must be just thrwoing our money away.

This is just my personal views.

I found Zymol no good compared to other products, some of the Collinite items are much better than Zymol.

But for eas of use, long term protection on the paint work, easy to take off, with outstanding results every time, I use Mothers.

I still have the HD cleanse and use it some times on a red car my friend has but thats about it.

Yep we do which makes great debate and the reason for these forums.

Although they specify 60 degrees, i do not feel this true. True do not use the zymol throughout the winter months as this is to cold. Summer months is the time for the Zymol.

Collinite 476 is the winter wax because it has the edge in the durability stakes. But compared to the finish i can get in the summer months with the Zymol Destiny, i think the Zymol has the edge.

However as i stated in my first post the difference is not huge. But i just think the waxes about for 20-30GBP are that good now, that u have to pay premium prices to better them.

Next up for me will be the Swissol as the cleaner fluid is a grerat product

It's all in the mind - they are all very similar. Who the 'eck can really tell the difference when you look at a car (show or road car)? It just makes you feel good if you know you've spent loads a dosh on something and someone else agrees you've done the right thing.

From my own experience (and having worked in a body shop many years ago which specialised in valeting RR's, Bentleys etc) - any good cleaner and polish, Glaze, followed by some decent Carnauba type wax and your car will look as good as anything else...if the paint job is good, it'll look great with anything smeared and polished on it...

As a result and for years I only used turtle wax on my cars, once every 4-5 months from new and they always looked immac...

Final thing - when Products/makers are recommended or commended at concourse shows, I reckon you have to ask who some of the "un named" sponsors are...and a really councourse car could have been made to look the same with a variety of leading companies stuff...it's all in the craft of detailing...

Since getting the Lex, I started looking at the latest stuff, and for me they all seem the same (that is Zymol, etc, though I've used carlack68 on Mike Morses suggestion and couldn't be happier).
