I found with the 2JZ GE engine that my MPG actually dropped using SUL's. BP ultimate is better only than sainsburies SUL, Esso super I'd put next, optimax (the previous name for V-power) after that and at the top I'd put the tesco 99 stuff. v-power when it was optimax was only 97 ron. With my range rover 4.6 V8 I get the same results putting in SULs ie my mpg drops. The actual power increase is more than likely there but its not big enough to be noticeable for me.

Where you will notice the difference is when you start running a forced air induction system close to its limit. You then need higher ron fuels to prevent detonation. I could feel the det on WOT in my BPU'd supra if I put sainsburies SUL in it. Minimum I could use and still be able to whop the throttle to the floor was esso SUL.

Just come back from down south and my car was filled up from empty with V-Power! First time I've used that stuff as its not available locally, and im very impressed! Defo a much Sharper response! If this stuff was available locally Id use this over and above BP Ultimate! Noticed a huge difference!
