Hi

I have been with Pipex for the last couple of years and although at some times the speed can vary I do not think I ever lose the connection.

I have had a very good sevice from them, it has only failed once (touch wood) and that was down to a BT fault.

:D :D

Thanks for the info.... i'm not really a computer buff but could it be something in my settings/pc or the area that i'm in that causes the connection failure? it normally runs at 7.6Mbps which i guess is pretty good so i cant understand why it looses the connection allthough when it is lost its only for a minute or two no real big deal just a pain in the *****

Its just the standard (speedtouch) modem, pipex sent through as part of the package

Are you using any sort of router. My mate had a Linksys router and it kept dropping the connection, he'd reboot it and it'd be ok for a week or so. He has since dumped that one for a new one not had a problem since.

Ah rite, is more than likely your area then. The only think you can do is inform them of the problem see if there is anything you can do. I send some big 300-400mb files to some clients, usually via ftp and if the line drops you have to start sending again, can be a real ball ache.

I was with them for a couple of years and had no probs whatsoever. Changed to the Homecall package with the phone and everything cos it worked out cheaper and went up from the standard 2.2Mps to "up to 8Mps depending where you are". Lo and behold we are getting similar drop-outs at the same time. Interestingly the connection in the day tends to be around 5.6Mps but when the drop-outs occur it tends to reconnect at a slower speed, anything down to 4.4Mps :crybaby:

:offtopic: Aah well, it's still good enough for porn, forums and email which is the interwebs prime use isn't it? :P
