hi guys new here from donegal in ireland

right im planning on buying eitheir an is200 sport manual or an altezza rs200 manual but how hard is it to get bits for the altezza belts brakes plugs filters etc??

how relaible are the yamaha engines will they keep goin happily when the miles get clocked up im selling my ek9 98 type r civic to buy one sso dont want a let doen of reliablity?

ive driven an is200 and the power isnt there but how would the altezza stick it against a standard vtec civic for example

I think the RS200 is a lot better compared to the VTEC, it's pretty much the same thing so you get a similar noise and power band, reliability wise they're fine if you treat them well, as for parts most things like brakes etc are the same as the IS200, not sure about the belts or filters though?

Usually Toyota seem to reuse the filters in various cars so I'm guessing it should be easy to get hold of them.

The only problem recently I can think of is that Am (Mr Singh) on here had engine problems and he's swapped it over, can't remember what the fault was though to be honest.

altezza's are grand for parts now . you can get most in a toyota guarage within 7 days sometimes 3 . the fact that loads are comming into the country means there should be a steady supply of second hand parts soon enough .

altezza is as reliable as a corolla... best car I've ever had... get a good one and you've no worries ;)

My only problem was the head gasket was weeping from the rebuild from that nasty belt accident i had last spring.... So instead of a head gasket job, i decided to change the motor, simply because i had bought one that got at a good price :)

Otherwise, its like Noel says, very reliable!

please tell me asap what to watch/look for when looking at and test driving an altezza or is200 sport

do all tezza rs200 come with lsd standard and any marking to watch for to ensure its a rs200

raido's dont work most of the time they will fail shortly after you buy it . might as well accept that now

suspension could be bolixed you will hear a knocking noise

the altezza will be running about 190 bhp and will need to have everything done for servicing that can cost if its not done

look for rear damage make sure u give it a good birst when driving and keep it over 5k rpm

good luck . if you want pay dizz to go look it over for you hes a pro

wot can i say except these cars are superb , its jap lol, ver responsive even at standard, would think it would destroy civics no probs but remember it a heavier car compared to the civic type R , i put a supercharger kit on my tezz just like MR SINGH and i was so impressed by the power espescially motorway driving , ull love it mate, but if u get one get it de-restricted normally restricted to 115-120 mph wich is no good lol , good luck

just home from driving a tezza rs 200 lovely car nice and quick have a few issues id like help with if ya can the idle is very low almost cutting out and if revd up and let drop down it cut out twice engine was warm so help please?

second is that it has sat nav on the dash is there some way of getting the language swapped to english with upto date irish/english maps in the boot there was a cable with two sockets in it one was dvd and cant remember what the other was again help??

heading now shortly to look at and drive an is200 sport and told all partys id hopefully have an answer tonite but dont want any hassle with the beams if its goina cost a heap to put right again im sure its something simple but HELP?

Idling problems? Walk away from it,you want to be getting a car thats running perfectly from when u get it, not having to replace faulty sensors/ecu that could be causing the idling issue.Is it a totally standard RS? or has there been much done to it? U can have a drive of mine if u live around Dublin and see how a proper rs200 runs!

hi mate the car is totally standard and drives perfectly engine pulls very strong if i buy id be the first owner in this country its on irish shores 3 weeks no noise from the engine or anything like that nothing that actually bothers me really but is there an idle control valve that if was cleaned would improve this or you think if the Battery lead was taking off and reset the ecu would it come round the car is an hour away id rather go and see if it would help than walk away dont think id like an is200 after driving the tezza really impressed with the power in the 4th 5th and 6th gears more so than the 1st three,

i really want it cause its less than i could get an 01 is sport for and even though its a 99 id rather have the extra go than the age difference

would a good service cure it and clean the throttle body????

rang the fela there a few hours ago and he said hes had his local mechanic out to look at it and he says they have it sorted the car is too cheap to pass really and its only just in the country,

anyone no if anything can be done with the nav system to get it goin again or at least make use of it

Only think you can do to make use of the motorized monitor is to get the system converted by a place called soarer.tv i think, your looking at about 600 GBP and all that he does is change the tv to be able to tune in TV channels, but you do need to still have the standard headunit in place. Alternatively you can replace the standard screen with a after market one and hook up a dvd player to it. But i think getting the sat nav working is next to impossible unless you go to Lexus and thats about 4 grand!!

yeah i did the fela imported two direct from japan himself as a job lot it was the two or nothing, one was sliver (one im looking at) and the other was black which he got for his sons 21st because every one the son went and looked at was so dear he said hed get him one for his birthday the black one is a real nice car coilovers exhaust bronze wheels trd kit

the reason its so cheap is because he said the two were at a good price and he said he isnt making much on the sliver one he just wants to sell it to recover most of the money for the sons car

id say if its got a lideling problom it could be something very small . like if it seems to run fine all the other times cant be to much wrong with it

just something is draining power . maby there is a new ecu in it ?

i know my power fc cant keep the car ticking over because the default idel time is still being used and when i have all the bells and whistles turned on it just drops out after about 5 mins of ideling

well i went down and spent a good hour goin over the car top to bottom making sure everything works which it all does and well even the cd player car is running better now not perfect but a whole heap better so im glad to say i bought it and all going well will collect on wed eve hopefully counting down the days already cant wait
