Hi!

this is my first lexus, having been a nissan nut for a couple of years.

i've got a gs300 mk2 1999 in silver. its got lovely 18inch alloys although they have slight kurbing and flaking. the previous owner looked after the car well, with a full service history with lexus.

i've got a few questions though.

is there a light underneath the gear selector? if there is i think mines blown out. can i replace it? what bulb does it take?

my drivers door red light doesnt work :crybaby: i tried a new 501 bulb but its still not working. any ideas?

my cd player doesnt seem to work. i can hear it load the cd, but the screen just shows the cd number. i;ve tried a lense cleaner but that hasnt helped. would this be expensive to fix at lexus? or would i be better off taking the changer out and going to a local audio place to see if they can get it working?

finally, i've read through a couple of threads and noticed i have to click on the replys to view them. is there an option that will just show them all once i;ve clicked on the thread?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Can't help much with your questions but:

Yes, the Numbers/Letters on the gear selector should be lit up, but no idea on the bulb.

As far as viewing replies goes, at the top of the first post in a thread, there is an "Options" button with a little down arrow next to it. Click it and a drop down list will show up. On the "Display Modes" section, choose "Standard". You should then see the whole thread and not single replies. :winky:

there was a post on the gear selector (plus AC bulbs, for the mk1's ) not sure if you access the under neath of the gear selector the same way tho , but you can have a look to see tho.

its not difficult to do, even I did it ;)

see if you have got voltage to the connectors on the door contacts, or it could have been a dodgy bulb you used. does the radio work normally or is it just the cd part of it that aint?

Steve

oh not sure about the thread one, what browser are you using?

good idea! im going to check voltage when i get home from work.

i'll try to take apart the selector bit on the weekend, might aswell do a how to while im at it for the mk2!

the radio works just fine, apart from some pixels. before i brought it the garage guy said he had a few cd's in it, and it was working fine. its covered by their warranty, im hoping its just a simple fix as i dont want the hassle of making a claim.

i've sorted out the thread one thanks!

Not trying to teach your parent's mother to suck eggs or anything, but do you have the CD's the right way up. Even now on my 2nd GS I still occasional put a disc in the changer the wrong way up.
