Need Help I Have An Is300, But Am Getting An Is200

Recommended Posts

When i move to the U.K, i plan on bringing my exterior mods, interior mods, suspension mods, and my wheels and put them onto an IS200.

I was going to go for a different car, but ive realized ive invested too much money into my lexus is300 now that i might as well get another lexus which i can transfer at least some of my mods to.

This means, the only thing i will have left to build my IS200 show car is I.C.E and engine work.

Now i need your help... i dont really know much about the IS200. Is it true that there is an IS200 2.0 6spd manual? If so, that would be a pretty nice car for me.

I want an IS200 (i dont know which one) that there are a lot of Forced Induction (turbo or S/C) kits for it. Anyone here know what IS200 i should go with?

Thanks,

-Chris

In the UK, there are currently four flavours of IS200, starting with the "basic" S model. You can find details at Lexus UK.

Essentially the manual is a 6cyl in-line 2.0litre with 6-speed manual transmission, producing 153bhp & 144lb/ft of torque @ 4600rpm, and good for a 0-62 dash in 9.5sec. The "SE" model adds 17" alloys, leather/ecsaine seats, two extra speakers, headlamp washers, and electrically heated/adjusting seats. The "Sport" model also adds aluminium pedals, rear privacy glass (tints to you & me), limited slip diff, 15mm lower ride height, and boot lip spoiler. There's also a "SportCross" IS200, but for mods I would guess it's a non-starter?

I would guess you'd want to go for the "Sport" as it has the slip diff & lower ride height. However, I'm a complete "IS mods virgin!" so I couldn't tell you about transferring your current mods. But there's loadsa guys here who are experts in such things, so I'm sure they'll be along to help you :) :)

PS - Welcome to the UK! when are you moving over here?

There is in Europe also an IS300 availble.

The only difference with the american IS300 is the gearbox. In Europe, only the automatic/F1 box is availble, while in America you can choose for an automatic or a 5-speed manual.

Normally all the exteriour & interiour parts ar the same for the IS200 and IS300. Only Engine mods are differend ofcourse. I don't really know about lowering springs and others, but I think they are also the same.

Indeed, for the IS200 there is a Super Charger availble. You can get it with TDI tuning in uk (you will find an advertisment on this site). Normally you will get 210 HP in stead of 155 HP with it.

basically any cosmetic internal and external mod will fit, as will exhaust, spring mods

engine mods, this is a opening market here in europe and id think that the UK is leading the way at the moment

Well, thats all good news then. If engine mods really raise up insurance rates, then i will only add some bolts ons and just leave the car for show.

In the U.S, for modifying a car you are not charged extra for insurance, do we actually have to tell our insurance companies in the UK what mods are present on the car???

Anyway, if you all are interested in mods i have... right now i have a Hipposleek front bumper, Area 51 sides, and C-west rear bumper. Here are pics of the body kit (http://photos.yahoo.com/is300m) This car isnt my exact car, but i have the same exterior mods.

As for wheels i have a set of 19s" on the way and i have H&R lowering springs. I think what im going to go with is just the regular IS200 model since i will be changing out so many parts. There is no point wasting money on the IS200 Sport if im only just going to change out those alloys/spoiler/and springs so i dont want to have to pay extra for those if im not going to need them.

At the moment i have a GReddy Exhaust/SRT Intake/Apexi S-AFC/pro-1 header, but as you all know i cant transder these engine mods onto the IS200 so i will have to figure out engine mods when i get my new IS200.

Thanks for help, anymore suggestions or comments anyone?
