Hi.

Ok so recently i've noticed that my throttle pedal has a about 1cm on of free play- meaning it moves down one centimeter and doesen't do anything after that it starts working. I was wondering if this was normal on all IS-es or is mine broken. I mean if i want to push it to the floor and there is 1 cm of free play than it wont go fully down??

Cheers

I noticed that with my IS200 sport, both clutch pedal & throttle pedal has the same 1cm play, one of my mates IS200SE has no play at all?

Mine has no play but one I test drove a few weeks ago had a good 1-2cm. It felt very odd and took quite a bit of getting used to.

I dare say that there is some form of adjustment either at the throttle end or above the pedal.

check the accelerator cable where it joins the intake manifold - it can be slack ie the first part of your pedal travel is taking up the slack and not affecting the engine. Simple fix - remove the slack by tightening the cable via the adjusting thread (can't think of it's name).

just be careful if you do so that the accelerator cable isn't stretching when the pedal is fully pressed , really the way to adjust it is to have someone hold the throttle pedal to the floor , while you adjust the cable so as to have a fully open throttle only at that point.

To tell you the truth i think i'll let it be because im not that good at fixing cars myself. It probably wont damage the car anyway so it's just an inconvinience. :whistling:
