Squeaky Gear Lever Gator

Has anyone else had this? It's very annoying. It's like the leather is squeaking together where it is being compressed when in 3rd and 5th gears. It's fine in all other gears.

yep take the gaitor out and rub the underside with vaseline and it will be quiet from then on, mine has not squeaked in over a year

just put your hand under the edge of the shiny piece at the bottom of the leather gaitor and easy it up all the way round. it does pop up easily, if you unscrew the gear knob you can remove the entire thing

ummmmmm - might be a problem with this, the inside of the gaiter is suede - so that isnt going to make the squeaking noise!!!!! you will find it is because of the leather on the outside of the gaiter rubbing together that is making the sound.

I suggest getting some " leather feed" cream from a proper shoe shop ( no its not polish) rub that on leave it to soak in and the problem should stop, or you could always just loosen the gear knob and twist the gaiter slightly, this can also stop the squeak.
