My car is in for it's 2nd year service after 17,000 miles. It apparently needs 4 new tyes and Lexus want £164.50 each for the OEM Bridgestones. Any recommendations where to get these cheapest, or recommendations of other (better?) tyres to consider? They said the tyres had worn on the inside edge and that I also need a 4 wheel alignment done (another £117.50) Other service work carried out: Replace brake fluid as the old stuff was shot Replace gearbox oil to improve shift from 1st to 2nd.

Does that mean the harness will fit newer cars and I can just replace the head unit without having to rewire and put a new amp in?? If so, and you have a harness up for grabs, I'll take it off your hands

No-one seems to know Some people have said the harness can be used, some have said the entire car needs re-wiring and new amps. I hope the former is correct /pikey

You seem to be confusing me with someone who can't drive. :iraqi-info-minister: I've never had TC before, driven lots of RWD cars, and have never ended up in a ditch. My other car doesn't have TC and I manage to handle that in the wet very nicely.

The "fun control" on my car is really starting to ***** me off. I keep forgetting to turn it off and so it cuts the power just when I need it (accelerating hard from roundabouts etc) Is there any way to permanently turn it off?

I would suggest making a scene in the showroom. Maybe on a Saturday afternoon when they are really busy trying to sell some cars. Fleeing potential customers will soon get them to come round.

Exactly. A pad cannot seize. They are trying to pull a fast one. If the pad is stuck it's a fault with the caliper not the pad. If it's the pad that is at fault, which it isn't, then replacing the pad should fix the problem, which it doesn't.

I was umming and ahhing between an A4 and an IS200 and finally went for the IS200 after pricing up all the A4 extras and working out that to get not quite as many toys would cost me close to £10k more :o The A4 for me was bland in comparison as well, and it felt like I was sitting on it rather than in it. Ok, so the quattro system was nice, but not enough to sell the car to me. The Lexus was much more my cup of tea, and after the dealer let me have one for a weekend to try out my mind was made up and I don't have any regrets.

I had a seized calliper replaced on my old MR2 under a Toyota used car warranty which I would assume to be not as good as a new Lexus warranty. I had to get them to speak to Toyota GB to get it approved, but it didn't cost me a penny. Might be worth speaking to the dealer, and then if you get no joy, speaking to Lexus UK

But shirley if I can just splice into the existing loom and keep everything else I can do that anyway?

I need to get my headunit installed. It is an empeg and has a standard ISO connector and 4 volt line-outs. Now I know that the IS200 doesn't have an ISO connector and that the connections will have to be fudged, but can the headunit be connected to the existing amps/speakers? I've done lots of searching and reading the archives and there seems to be some confusion as to whether it will work or not. The unit has high-level line outputs and requires an amplifier that can handle 3.2V RMS line outputs. It provides four channels (two left/right pairs, one front and one rear. It does not provide a separate subwoofer out. I'm not looking for some kickin ICE install with wikkid neon. I just want to get my headunit installed. Will it work with the current amp or will I have to get a new amp and have the car totally rewired?

The Lexus removable one is £283.95 including value added theft. It is the Brink one, so any Brink reseller will be able to sell you one probably cheaper. Installing it is no easy job though.
