I think they are to make sure the boot goes up straight and not one leg quicker than the other, and twist the boot.

Stav

hmmm...

they are in my way!!

anybody know of any mods to remove em? gas struts maybe?

Yes mate, several of us have added gas struts. I left the tensioners in though so can't really say what will happen if you take them out.

Here's the thread you're after :

Boot Lid Needs Viagra

I still have a spare strut that Maz was going to buy for £25 (you have to order them in pairs but only need one) but I haven't heard from him for a while

looks interesting, i guess two struts set at the same pressure should work in theory. form reading the post they sound a bit violent though!! maybe once the bot is packed out with sound deadening it may be heavier and raise slowly... expensive experiment though..

can you not take them off dynomat above, then fit them back on again?

Stav

thats not the problem..

i was thinking of putting 2 8"subs in there but they tensioners are in the way.. might have tp give it a miss..

8" subs will go fine on the parcel shelf mate, just have to make the adapter rings different :)

the dont ensure the bootlid comes up straight, there only there for the resistance to hold the boot open

Sweet!!!

so the gas strut should hold it then!!

wohoo!!!

back on plan!!

Props to Monster Mat.. he seems to answer all my questions!!!

remember as well that the tension from the springs allows the boot lid to spring away, if even slightly when the boot lock is activated, with no springs on there, the boot will just stay well and firmly shut
