Hi to you all,

just joined the LOC.

Was wondering if any owners have had problems with fuel tank sensor. I have just changed the fuel filter, which was fun, and for some reason my fuel gauge only reads 3/4 full even when the car is fuelled up to brim. Do you have to reset the sensor in some way after changing this filter??

Why'd you change the filter? there ment for the life of the car.

My car was getting close to the 100,000 mile mark and I gave it a mega service, all filters and belts regardless of age. I bought this car with 78,000 on it and it had not seen a dealership from 30,000, local mechanics had serviced it at less than regular intervals. I just like to have a level playing field and know that all is well. The car is know running like a dream apart from the fuel sensor thing. I was getting around 300 -340 miles on a tank now its up to 350-400 and I do push the girl on a bit.

erm the fuel filter shouldn't have been changed.....there is no need to, as has been said its a whole car life item

basically the fuel gauge takes a mean average of 2 sensors, one in each side of the tank, i think either the plug is not properly connected on the pump side, or, you have damaged the sender

Hi Ticketyboo2U, How is your fuel meter? Back to normal? I have similar symptom. The meter only point to 3/4 tank no matter it is fully filled. And then one day it suddenly indicate empty tank with the refill warning lamp light up. Then after about 40km driving, the fuel pump dead and I end up to have my car towed away. So if you symptom persist do check the fuel pump.
